Default C5 Z06 ASA cam results

I recently installed a GMPP ASA cam in my c5 Z along with some amazon long tubes and a blackwing cai. I got it tuned this morning. It put down 413 rwhp and 389 lbs/ft. I was hoping to break 400 and succeeded. Very pleased with the results so far! I'll post the dyno sheet when I get a chance.

What are stock C5 Zs putting down for power and torque at the wheels? I'm new to C5s

I didn't get a baseline, but from what I have read on the forum it can vary from 350-360 at the wheels. I have no firsthand stock dyno results to share though. My tuner said I left some power on the table going with the ASA with its low lift and non-aggressive lobes which I knew when I did it. He said usually a decent sized cam with bolt ons will get 420-440 on his dyno. I will say this, going from stock to bolt ons, cam and tune all at once.....wow!

I paid $500 for the cam, $250 for the long tubes with x pipe, $80 for high flow cats, $220 for the blackwing. I also replaced the oil pump, balancer and timing chain and removed the magnaflow single muffler the previous owner had installed. I put new ls3 springs in it back in September when I bought the car after reading horror stories on the forum. It does have a little bit of a miss at certain times. I dropped a spark plug when I pulled them to install the headers so I will be replacing those tomorrow.

To give up a few horse power for reliability and longevity is a win in my book. Ron B.

Tell your dyno tuner that STD numbers havent been accepted as the standard since 1988/1989.

SAE is the correct unit of measure... he needs to learn how to use his dyno properly. You are close to your your 400WHP goal.. you made about 395whp SAE.

I honestly don't care. You can call him and tell him since it concerns you so much.

you come here and post how much horsepower you made and that you are very pleased that you exceeded your goal of 400whp ... and I give you the feedback that your dyno operator was using the wrong setting and that your numbers are lower... and you think I’m concerned and should call your dyno operator?

lol... please go wreck yourself. I could care less. Figured you might want to know you paid for a service where your final output numbers were inflated. Sorry if if this ruins your day LOL

You didn't ruin my day, I don't have feelings. I posted my numbers to help other people when they are deciding to mod their cars. I had a hard time finding ASA cam results in a Z06. If it helps you great. Thanks for the input though, glad to know there is a certified super duper dyno **** running around here. I'll be sure to get you to approve any more dyno results I see.

Get some meds dude. It’s the internet. You came here posted your stuff and people give feedback. You won’t always get what you want to hear. Not sure why so butt hurt over my post.

if I ever need to see someone act like a 7 year old and have a tantrum then declare that they don’t have any feelings (sociopath much?) I’ll be sure to log on here and search threads posted by you.

Dang, you got me. I am a butt hurt 7 year old sociopath throwing a tantrum that needs to wreck himself and get meds. Crazy, you figured that out in an internet post. You should look into helping humanity with your talents.

I don't mind feedback. Sounds like you do lol.

Before installing the ASA cam I had read it didnt make big peak numbers. I have proof of that now! It does pull quite a bit harder from around 2800 rpm and up. I don't drag race, street race, none of that. If you want big numbers or are competing with others this cam for sure isn't a good choice. If I ever get the itch to get a little more out of the car I'll stick another cam in it but I doubt I do.

Wait until he goes to a dyno day that has a mustang dyno and puts down 360. Low lift cams are turds after 5k. They have their place but I wouldnt put one in a car that revs high like a vette.

Dont worry what others opinion is. The GM ASA cam adds about 20whp to a factory LS6. That cam likes compression and you made a realistic number of what that cam should produce on a stock engine. I was going to go with the ASA cam myself. There is a formula for this cam on the particulars needed for what it was designed for. It prefers 11:1 or higher to really show its beautiful torque curve not many other cams can produce.
