Default Cam and Heads

I decided to pull the trigger on a heads and cam package that I put together. BTR stage 3 cam with a set of Trickflow 215 heads ported by TEA. Now here is my question, the heads come with a mil of 64 and I had them milled to 61 after speaking with my tuner. I don't want to have to add any kind of additive or anything. A buddy of mine who builds motors is in my ear to get the heads milled to 58 because at 61 the car wont have the "snap" that it should and i wont be getting the most out of the build." I ignored the advice and went with the 61 mil. I want the most out of the car of course and i want it to drive well but dont want to risk detonation. Do you guys think 61 is a good spot? Thanks for any info

Most run them at 59cc so you won’t have any detonation problems at 61, run a thin head gasket to bring compression up more and less chance of detonating

I run my tony mamo setup at 59cc with a .040 cometic gasket on 93 pump. Your cam size.will dictate how much room you have PTV though.

Most run an .040 gasket, I’m running a little bit thinner gasket but it’s more of a max effort n/a build, you have to take into account how far the piston comes out of the hole, piston rock ect but 040 will work well, you need to take into account your ptv clearance and the fact you may have to fly cut the pistons also, sounds like it will be a great build when finished, in for results when done!
