Default Massive power outage hits San Francisco, shuts down businesses

MASSIVE SNOWFLAKE PANIC....

A massive power outage in San Francisco on Friday morning caused a blackout in neighborhoods across the city, from the Financial District to the Presidio, forcing the closure of businesses, a federal courthouse and a BART station, officials said.

A spokesman for Pacific Gas and Electric Co. said at least 90,000 customers lost power.

BARTís Montgomery Station was closed due to the outage, which struck after 9 a.m. BART rains were running through Montgomery Station without stopping. Cable cars were also impacted and shuttles were put in place to provide service, according to the Municipal Transportation Agency.

There were reports of traffic lights out in many city intersections, and traffic was backing up on downtown streets. The Phillip Burton Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse at 450 Golden Gate Ave. was among the many buildings closed down by the outage.

A PG&E spokesman said the company was trying to determine the cause of the outage, as well as how long it would take to restore power. The San Francisco Fire Department was responding to calls for service, but reported no injuries as of 10 a.m.

Daytime, no air conditioning needed today, not much heating needed today...for the grid to go down so easy, it must be very fragile. I wonder if California is so concerned about keeping the snowflakes happy, the 1" snail darter minnow happy, keeping criminal illegal immigrants happy, etc that they've overlooked the need to maintain essential services such as the grid and the Oroville Dam. r .

Good for them. This will undoubtedly be used to scare the morons into a new tax increase to pay for some more "green" energy to make the eco-gods happy. And the morons will be all over that stupid idea.

Wind and solar is seldom stand alone. Normally only for and off the grid home.

Wind and solar have to have the waveform/rotation etc. from the generators system to determine voltage requirements to push their power back onto the suppliers system.
