KISS is all about the show. We were listening to their music in the car on the way, and I seriously had doubts. Music is slow.... and just sounds old. Most of their songs were barely acceptable back in the day, and they have not aged well and passed the test of time either.

But live...it came alive. It wasn't bad. But still, all about the show. And it was indeed a good show. We walked away happy. Mission accomplished for KISS.

Now Metallica....I got no idea your problem there. They're the best of the best as far as I'm concerned. I saw them here too.... this past December 5th. They were simply outstanding.

But hey, that's why there's thousands of bands as well as different genres. Different strokes for different folks.

You've got to be kidding?

That's not a serious question is it?

It happened for the very same reason Pavorotti sells at 1/10,000th the size of the Rolling Stones.

Talent and Marketing are not at all aligned.

It's all about giving the people what they want.

"Bubble gum" music just sells better than what a music critic might call "talent".

Again you don't have to like KISS or their "boring" music........ but the numbers don't lie.

People clearly will buy what you call "mind numbing boring" when it's marketed and done in a way find most appealing.

They'll just about lick it up.......even as you find it dull as dish water.

One could easily argue that Kiss worshiped the all mighty dollar, and did it better than any other rock band, but they always put on one hell of a show.

I don't know who thought of it first, probably promoters but Kiss sure cashed in on it. I remember one year every member of the band had their own studio album, sorry but GOOD music is not produced like this. We used to wait at least a year before the quality bands put out the next album and it was expected to have at least a half dozen good songs on it. They had respect for the fans and themselves, that's my take. Not the case with KISS and Metallica, they were producing albums like a production line, and the quality of the work was god awful. Anyway, this is about the time when it became common practice for pop rock bands to put out an album with one, maybe two hits if we were lucky, and the rest of the album was pure ****. This sold a lot of record albums and tapes. I could not be more happy that this fraud was stopped with the pirating of music in the computer age. No wonder Gene Simmons was screaming mad about it.

They definitely have the quality sound. not the music unless you're satisfied with a couple good songs per album.

Heard an interview some years ago, can't remember who it was, it was stated that the record companies want bands to hold back on their best material for the sole purpose of making multiple albums. Release a hit or two at a time with a lot of studio fluff in between and rake in the cash.

Angry music? KISS? Have you ever actually listened?

Most of their crap is almost pop type stuff disguised as rock-n-roll.

There's definitely angry music in rock and roll. But ain't much of it coming from KISS.

I mean geez....this is how they opened the encore. Does this sound angry to you?

20,000 people coming together in a peaceful, enjoyable manner like this. Seriously, how bad can this be? And as far as I know, not a single incident at this show.

I wish I was around in a time when rock and roll was the biggest problem in society to worry about.

No ****. That's actuality part of my reasoning for this thread.

I remember KISS tours as a kid. There were always the jesus freaks protestors following them.

But that was before the internet, social media, and recreational outrage. I'm surprised the Jesus freaks haven't moved on to bigger and better causes these days.
