One of the most common words in the speech last night was the pronoun "we."
I'd like to hear what everyone here thinks the President means when he says "we."

American people. He was gracious to share the credit for great things accomplished. I catch a strong message from President Trump that he wishes to be working for the people.

Contrast that to Obama's a zillion "I"s in HIS speeches

I think the Trump camp got together recently and said something similar to this: "We are more divided now than any time since we've been alive. We need to demonstrate to the people that our goal is not division but unity. Among other ideas, lets put 'we' into your speech a LOT and see what happens".
So we would be everyone (all Americans) if that was the strategy.

"We" means the American people. He uses "we" in keeping with his oft repeated theme that he was elected to represent the American people. This was commonly repeated during his campaign rallies.
People on H Clinton's campaign team would have been well advised to listen to Trump's campaign rally speeches to total and look at the enthusiastic LARGE crowds. If they had done this they would have realized what was about to hit them right between the eyes.

To blame Trump for today's divisiveness is like blaming the victim at a lynching for creating a rowdy crowd.

By "recently" would you mean previous to the first address to the nation as President, given on February, 28th 2017? Are you saying that he's been trying to heal this divided country since the moment he entered office? Or are you saying that his use of "we" as the dominating pronoun in his speeches to the nation as President is a new development?

Divisiveness? Don't you think that the 2 years of, day in and day out, 24/7 anti-Trump anti-trump propaganda from CNN, MSNBC, NYT, HuffPo, WashPo is a principal element in our political divisiveness today? If a hypothetical intelligent caring person did nothing but listen to these "news" outlets, and nothing else, that hypothetical intelligent caring person would hate and dispise Trump with a visceral passion. This is the genesis of the creation of people with Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Indeed. His addresses are always inclusive, he takes personal credit for nothing. He uses himself as a marker for time, "When/Since I took office", and he issues challenges "I ask you to choose greatness", but achievements are things "we" have done, and it has been this way from the moment he took office.
I googled "what has Trump taken credit for" and the results are entertaining
