Default No more spare change....now it's spare dollars

Went to the boat show downtown here yesterday and afterward to a restaurant and as we're walking towards the door I got hit up. Woman asked me if I had a few dollars she could have. Dollars? Here, just take my credit card. I said no, maybe you should get a job instead. WTF? Dollars? Yeah, I know I'm a heartless bastard.
At least she didn't have a cigaret hanging out of her mouth.

I don't consider bums begging for dollars to be charity. It's an epidemic here in Florida. I don't even acknowledge their request.

Been asked, after saying no cash or change on me....they pick up cell phone out of their pocket and make a call.

Why make a call if turned down for change???? This has happened a few times now. (Calling drug dealer, asking for more time???)

You can almost always see this stuff coming as its happening. Next time, just before whomever says can I have a dollar ? You need to ask them for a dollar. Priceless.

I understand one of the Green New Deal's provisions was to set all the homeless up with PayPal accounts.

For What It's Worth:
There are "homeless" with signs at many major intersections in my area. I was about to donate to a guy and my wife said "Don't do it...my sister takes this route to work....that guy takes people's money and then goes to his car and takes a few swigs out of a bottle concealed in a paper bag".
So…..not believing her I parked where I could see the guy and his car in a parking lot. SHO' NUFF'......he went to the car and cured his thirst.

Another time I was waiting in my car for my wife at the local shopping mall when I saw a homeless man on a cold night (NOT asking for money) going to each trash can/removing soda cans from the trash/pouring the remnants into one can/then drinking the liquid.
From my car window I gave him a fast food coupon and some cash.....the man began weeping/thanked me/went to the fast food restaurant.

It seems the people who don't beg are the honest ones. I have run across a few weasels with slick stories, too.

Used to be a very aggressive bum here in a wheelchair who was always at any downtown event. He accosted us one night and kept blocking the sidewalk. I finally told him either gtfo of my way or I'm gonna knock your *** out of that wheelchair. He finally got busted for aggressive panhandling and I have not seen him lately. Lived in one of the low income buildings,

I am not oblivious and uncaring. I have given money and also food (there's a thread here somewhere about a Wal Mart shopping trip). Like you I'm sure I have been bamboozled more than once but I figure that's on them, not me. I also donate to local shelters and food banks. Help is out there for people who really need it. They don't have to beg.

On a similar note, the best sign I have ever seen was a young guy at the WM with a sign that said "Spaceship Needs Repair"

It's a racket and most of them are organized. They're transported to their spots and owe a cut to the boss. They can also make a crap load of money in busy places.

Ha he he............
I see it coming too. I ask them for a dollar before they do!
Lately I say ''a dollar? buddy you have to think big.''
Ask for 5 dollars.
Dude says ''ok.......you have 5 dollars?

''5 dollars?''.......what you think I'm made of ".............
They still don't get it.

I would have recommended she contact "public servant" OHorsio-Cortex. I hear she has a lot of money heading her way soon. Maybe she'll share?

They have been hitting gas stations the last few years. Walk up on you while you're pumping and claim to be trying to get to the next big city and out of gas/money.

The worst one was a woman drove up in her car.....

Her - Do you have a few dollars? I'm out of money and I have to be in Dallas tomorrow morning and I'm out of gas.

Me - I have no cash on me.

Her - Drives off

Saw her 2 Days later. Same station. Driving up to each busy pump making the same claim.

Rolls up to me

Her - Do you have a few dollars? I'm out of money and I have to be in Dallas tomorrow morning and I'm out of gas.

Me - You mean you still haven't made it to Dallas? You know, would probably have better luck bullshitting people if you'd get your lazy *** out of your car. Wasting gas while sitting in your idling car claiming to be out of gas and money kinda kills the sale.

She drove off with a lot of curse words emanating from her windows.

Not here in Oklahoma. Good way to end up staring down the barrel of a hand gun.

Two or three years ago some lowlife tried to rob a guy in the exact same parking lot where this woman hit me up. He's now pushing up daisies.

Local TV reported on a couple that moved their pandhandling around the city daily. Each collected over $200 a day.

I was hit up at a West Virginia gas stop with the “ I don’t have enough gas to get to xxxx” ploy. He kept waiting around for out of state plates.
