Absolutely agree. In fact I bet he's lost the ability to keep his thoughts/opinions/beliefs to himself ...... the Twitter monster has him now

I don't actually follow you around from forum to forum. I know what you said and when you get your next car it will be "new to you". Gotta run for a little bit, see ya later sunshine.

Very little? Less than very little, we get a government that can't even enforce the damn law. I give the state of New Jersey money so they can pay lawyer bills for illegal aliens.

One issue is the IRS messed up on the withholding tables for 2018, underestimating tax. Even if a person got an overall tax break, not enough tax was taken out, and often that person ended up owing money instead of getting a refund.

The other main issue as already posted above is the SALT limit of $10,000. At the same time, the loop holes that favor stock brokers, real estate businesses, ... (like carry forward interest) were kept along with the tax cuts. This biased the tax cuts to favor the wealthy in certain fields even more so.

Tentatively, it looks like I'm paying quite a bit more, about 20% more.

That said, I'm a bit of an outlier. Single, no kids, and my only deductions were a big house payment and a metric ton of itemized deductions through work...almost everything I spend money on is technically deductible as a work expense, due to a combination of responsibilities that align nicely with my passions. I've been very lucky, and it appears that luck has finally run out, lol. I'm a cop, so guns and shooting is mostly deductible. I'm also a search and rescue diver, so a lot of my training, equipment, and even travel gets deducted. I'm also part of a team that does bicycle rides and runs for charity through work, and training/coaching that goes along with that, so a lot of my equipment and training expenses gets deducted, too.

I refinanced the house at the end of 2017 for a better rate, and losing my itemized deductions this year is going to hurt.

That said, I'm still in favor of the new tax plan, even though it had a negative effect on me personally. I think the overall good for the nation as a whole easily offsets me paying an extra few $k/year.

Guy voluntarily moves to MD. Complains about tax burden. Hilarity ensues.

Naturally most of us will pay more taxes this year in order to support all the benefits and programs the illegals who sneak across our borders receive. It will only get worse as more illegals find a way into our country. If AOC has her way we’ll also pay 3 or 4 times more for her green new deal farce along with her sham living wage program for those unwilling to work.

Despite that liberal claim that those of us who earn more than the middle class were going to make out like bandits, my marginal fed tax rate when from 33 to 35%. My effective fed rate rose from 27.05 to 27.78%. Federal tax went up about $3000. Then add in what Commyfornia does to those of us that work for a living and my tax rate before listening to my financial advisor would have been 40.57%

The boost to the economy was the biggest factor for me. My personal and business earnings were both up thanks to President Trump. So at the end of the year, I still have more money in my pocket.

You have to keep on top of changes and adjust accordingly to your favor.

I agree, the lower withholding is what screwed me. I'm paying about $300 less in taxes living in Utah which is pretty much an extra lunch per paycheck but now I have an $1800 bill. Meanwhile a married couple with 4 kids dont pay crap if they make less than $120k or so and an unmarried couple really gets to save money.
