Wonder who these people will blame when the "tax cut" results in millions of Americans paying more, resulting in either lower refunds or paying more at tax time?
You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you?

You're ignoring the only real significant factor. The total tax rate as a percentage of their income. 80% will pay less, about 5% will pay more, 15% will pay the same.

If it helps you to understand this, they got a bigger refund, and the government prepaid it in weekly installments, in their paycheck.

op,
We have done this a few times.
People who complain about taxes do not understand taxes.
They think they pay taxes because they have a payroll deduction, but MOST get a refund check up to 500% of what they paid in.
As stated above, with decreased withholding during the year their refund check is less than previous year due to the lesser amount paid during the year.
This is not rocket science, I have a nephew that is 12-years old and he can grasp it.
None of these 50% actually pay a net income tax, so who cares about their refunds other than them!!
I pay more income taxes in the first hour of 2019 than some families will pay in 30 years,,,

Agreed - those numbers will be coming in the next couple of months as to how people made out.

Yep - if that turns out to be the case I'd agree. But with the SALT changes that may not be true for as many as you suggest.

Ahhh..the Progressive wordsmithing in action...

Illegal aliens become undocumented immigrants and then becomes just immigrants

Criticizing any "person of color" for any reason becomes racism

Criticizing any woman for any reason becomes sexism

Paying lower taxes overall becomes lower withholding amounts that becomes smaller refund

Deceitful pieces of **** they are

We havenít done our taxes yet. However with the changes Iím not going to be surprised that we owe even more than normal. We usually pay 5 or 6k. Between Salt and the extra take home pay that we will probably have to pay back Iím guessing we owe 10k😡 Hope Iím wrong.

Having a smaller return does not equate to paying more, because you kept more over the year.

In the minds of a simpleton it does. This reminds me of when I was in High School, my mom was the CFO of a manufacturing company and they decided to move from weekly pay to bi-weekly. No matter how many times they explained it they still had a large group of workers that were sure they were getting screwed out of a week of pay.

Not surprising. Of course, in our current iteration of 'victim nation' failing to plan your finances, health insurance costs, retirement savings, etc, is always someone's else's fault.

It's remarkable how many people have basically zero understanding of how numbers work. My mom is one of them, it was very interesting once my dad passed and she all of a sudden had to take care of the bills. She wouldn't close the garage door because she didn't want to drive up the electric bill.
