Nobody seems to be noticing that the main countries to ban their flights are ones engaged in trade battles with the US. They're going to look stupid when it turns out that Johnny Dirt Farmer the Pilot wasn't qualified enough to fly the damn plane, but they let him anyway.

Stupid. Is the federal govt. going to reimburse the airlines for lost revenue?

There are only about 50 737's in service in the U.S.

Default Trump ISSUES EO, grounds the 737 MAX FLEET...

Will they "praise him' or '???'

President Donald Trump said he issued an executive order Wednesday grounding all Boeing 737 Max jets, following the second major crash within five months.

“We’re gonna be issuing an emergency order of prohibition to ground all flights of the 737 max 8 and the 737 max 9 and planes associated with that line,” Trump told reporters in Washington on Wednesday.

The move marks a stunning turnaround from the U.S., which has stood by the American-made aircraft as dozens of countries around the world ground the planes.

Trump said he had spoke with Boeing’s CEO, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and the acting head of the FAA, Daniel Elwell.

“They are all in agreement with the action. Any plane currently in the air will go to its destination and thereafter be grounded until further notice,” he said.

Never will he get praise. EVER. TDS is to the marrow.

His announcement should have started with " I didn't have to do this..." just to **** off the media and Dems.

Thank GOD you aren't making these decisions.

Safe air travel is no place to draw lines over something as absolutely STUPID as various versions of political opinion.

2 crashes out of thousands of flights isn't statistically significant (sorry but they're not), especially since no cause has been flagged for either crash yet. Although in the vast majority of crashes, pilot error is the cause

Flying over the varmit infested Jungles, Plains and Savannas of the dark continent has never been on my bucket list, especially on some national-flagged airline like Ethiopian.

But Boeing has some explaining to do.

I wouldn't expect anything from the Government but at least one Airline CEO has his own idea of who should pick up the expense of the grounded planes.

Norwegian Air has 18 Max jets!

They have already said, “We expect Boeing to take this bill,”

But we're talking about two crashes out of how many total planes and how many total flight hours?

This seems like a knee jerk reaction, particularly considering the incidents occurred where training and maintenance may, at a minimum, be suspect.

That he ordered the planes grounded is a good thing but where was the FAA?

...and if that's actually the case as I suspect we'll find out that it is.......the planes will be back in the air before long.

GOOD GRIEF is everything going to always come back to being on one side of the political spectrum or the other?

I don't think so........but for a lot of folks in this forum it seems that it just about always does.

SO it begs a question.

Did President Trump just FOLD UP like a cheap suit in your opinion?

.....or can you leave room for the possibility this isn't about politics at all?

If you have one more of these planes crash, the liability in the form of punitive damages could be absolutely staggering to Boeing and any airline flying the plane. Lost revenue would be nothing compared to damages.

50 airlines and 376 airplanes. It's going to hit Boeing hard, but it's also going to impact the airlines that purchased more than a couple to replace their aging aircraft.

Sorry, did I miss where I injected politics into my assertion?
