Im happy to stop making payments right now.

In the 12 years I have until retirement my wife and I could invest the money on our own and outperform what SS would do for us by a longshot.

Lets kill the entire system right now.

Yeah, right! Like they pay any attention to the president's budget proposal. Social Security is the third rail of politics. It won't be touched.

Yeah, we did. And when that piece of sh, er, legislation cut Medicare spending by $716B no one complained.

Social Security (SSI), Medicaid and Medicare are three of the most abused government programs that are full of fraud at the user and provider level.

Let's not forget that in government lingo, a budget cut is not a budget cut.

As usual, the left says any cut to their holy programs projected spending is a real cut and group X is not cared for by the right.

Then you look at the actual text and see its absolutely not what they fearmonger it into.

How can we thank the Dems for that?

https://www.cato.org/publications/co...enspan-deja-vu

Those in the audience may have experienced a sense of déjà vu, because the last time Alan Greenspan offered advice on a Social Security crisis was back in 1983, when he headed the National Commission on Social Security Reform, better know as the Greenspan commission. His advice in 1983 was, essentially, raise taxes and cut benefits. Doing so, he told Congress, would secure the system for at least the next 75 years absent “a very adverse economic scenario.”

I never heard so much as a peep from you lib's when Barack stole 7-800 billion from medicare to jump start O-Care. Nope not even a tear was shed....I know, he isn't the Prez anymore right? Best excuse you fling out there for HIS shifting of American taxpayers cash. Of course his minions in the House and Senate went right along with it. You young guys on here need to look at both sides and what they do (or don't do). Then you will see...and lib's bitch about 5-8 billion for a wall? go figure fools...

I guess some of the lefties didn't read Trumps plan for cutting cost. Apparently the idea of taking on fraud, cutting waste and misuse of taxpayer dollars, is offensive to them.

Because it was the Dems back in LBJ's term that voted to raid the SS overage and put it in the general fund. I have no idea what you think what is quoted above is supposed to mean. Reagan and the Republicans of his time are the ONLY group to have done something to improve the SS system, phasing in a delay in full retirement age from 65 to 67. Like I said, we just have to phase in another delay of 3 years, and all the "problems" magically disappear. But Dems don't want to talk about that. As usual, their only solution is raising the taxes collected either by increasing the rate, or removing the cap.

Or when SSDI was expanded to the tune of 1.4M individuals under Obama's tenure. Nothing to see there either, apparently.

Trump said he wouldn’t cut Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare. His 2020 budget cuts all 3.

"President Donald Trump’s 2020 budget breaks one of his biggest campaign promises to voters: that he would leave Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare untouched.

“I’m not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican and I’m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid,” Trump told the Daily Signal, a conservative publication affiliated with the Heritage Foundation, in 2015.

Over the next 10 years, Trump’s 2020 budget proposal aims to spend $1.5 trillion less on Medicaid — instead allocating $1.2 trillion in a block-grant program to states — $25 billion less on Social Security, and $845 billion less on Medicare (some of that is reclassified to a different department). Their intentions are to cut benefits under Medicaid and Social Security."
But when your hero Obongo cut over 700B to pay for POSCARE(ACA) you were excited and blamed others I bet...
