Pretty sad... looks like it's going to completely burn.

Looks like it was under construction/renovation. I see scaffolds all around it.

Historic places like that.....burning.........bummer.

From fox:

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire. Notre Dame was undergoing a $6.8 million renovation project, with some sections under scaffolding, while bronze statues were removed last week for works

Fox reporting the central spire and roof have collapsed. Not a stretch at this point to assume it's going to be a total loss. A terrible day for history.

The spire and roof have collapsed. It's pretty much a total loss. What a terrible moment in history.

Used to be? Why isn't it beautiful any more?

I guess you can call this renovation project an abysmal failure.

total disaster, there is a lot of medieval artwork, paintings, stained glass windows, silverware, it resisted the WWII, the occupier at everything and there were works, it comes from there

It is sad to see such and awesome church building go down. However, a real church is not the building, it is the people therein.

architecture historically speaking it's sad; but, I wonder how long before a certain segment of France's population start dancing in the streets. Then there's an odd question of who is responsible to rebuild. . .

One of the main tourist attractions in Europe. What an unmitigated disaster.
