I like her calm non-screech delivery. But she is naive thinking the Iraq war was for oil (look at how much oil America is now producing/exporting), and she is naive to think that avoiding all foreign wars will save money compared to allowing these terrorists to fester and then attack us.

Also, all the humanitarian causes purported to support immigration, are better served by fixing the countries of origin: fact.

I agree. But it also presents a conundrum for those that are opposed to regime change (as she and many others are).

If you aren't doing regime change, and it's been proven that foreign aid is just dollars burned.....how exactly do you accomplish this?

On most issues she is not too different from most of the far-left crowd.

- She is almost as "anti-fossil fuels" as the "Green New Deal" bunch, wanting to eliminate fossil fuels from electrical power generation and cars over a very short timeline.
- She supports the "Medicare for All" universal health care proposal (which would actually eliminate Medicare - more like "VA for all"....)
- she wants to ban "assault-style" guns
- she wants free community college for all, and free public university "for most families" (all except the ones that have some money....)

(Note: This is from the article that was linked in post #13.)

Even if you like her isolationist tendencies, you are basically buying into a fairly socialistic view of government, quite similar to Bernie, et al....

Maybe the main difference is that Gabbard is cagey enough in interviews to SEEM more reasonable than others.....

This isn't far from candidate Trump really.

This is what attracts me to her. But I'm guessing she'll fall off the rails soon on social stuff. She can't compete with the crazy dems being normal...
I like the idea of a sane D but remain cynical that she's it despite her positions here which I earnestly agree with. Let me know what she's going to do about firearm ownership and if she's signed on to items like AOC's GND.

She is definitely not what most would consider "gun friendly".

From the PBS article I linked to earlier....

Guns: Ban assault weapons and require universal background checks.

In Congress, Gabbard has co-sponsored bills that would ban assault weapons and require background checks for all gun purchases, including closing what is known as the “gun-show loophole.”
And yes, she's pretty much a green freak.

Climate change: Mandate an end to the use of fossil fuels for electricity by 2050. Ban fracking.

One of the most aggressive pieces of climate change legislation in Congress, Gabbard’s “OFF Fuels for a Better Future Act” would mandate a dramatic move away from fossil fuels. The plan would require electric utilities to use 80 percent renewable resources by 2027 and 100 percent by 2035. In addition, it would set similar goals for car emissions, mandating zero emissions by 2050. Finally, it would end all subsidies and tax breaks for fossil fuels and it would ban fracking.

Are you sure you're talking bout the same person? You just contradicted yourself. Ban guns, check. Supported GND, check.

She is a younger, much hotter version of Bernie Sanders. While I like some of her viewpoints, she's a progressive Socialist. Can't support that in any form.

Typical bait & switch liberal.

No idea where you get contradictions. Are we speaking the same language?
