Default Adversity scores for SAT

Just unreal. I hope they measure the rape, robbery and wearing pants below the buttocks stats as well.

SAT to use 'adversity score' for students applying to college

The College Board, which oversees the SAT exam used by most U.S. colleges during the admissions process, plans to introduce an “adversity score” which takes into consideration the social and economic background of every student.

The move is likely to reignite the debate over race and class in college admissions.

The new adversity score is being calculated using 15 factors, including the crime rate and poverty level from the student's high school and neighborhood, The Wall Street Journal first reported.

Students won't be privy to their scores but colleges and universities will see them when reviewing applications.

"There are a number of amazing students who may have scored less (on the SAT) but have accomplished more," David Coleman, chief executive of the College Board, said. "We can't sit on our hands and ignore the disparities of wealth reflected in the SAT."

there is no solution for the ill effects of democracy

mathematicly most people can not ever succced the majority thus sentencing society to progresive failure under majority rule .

the merchant and private sector class must rule, the government must serve it's interest first or the society falls under the weight of democracy

the public sector must be subserviant to the people and it is they alone that should be subjected to a lower minimum wage law

that forces working people to produce economy instead of to milk it

if yuo o can't do anything else, get a government job, it you wont do anythng else, live off of charity

Isn't that the purpose of the rest of the college application/admission process?

Merit based results are no longer PC. Another way to devalue college education. Ridiculous idea that will lower the average instead of elevating it.

Students won't be privy to their scores but colleges and universities will see them when reviewing applications.

The adversity points given will be least of the problems involved here. Now students won't know scores, so how do they narrow down the number of schools they may be able to qualify for? Do they just spend a fortune on application fees to schools they have no chance of getting in to?

Worse yet, this just insulates the universities from any accountability for admissions, when nobody knows their score except the university.

The adversity score, by contrast, doesn’t take into account race and is superior because it is steeped in more research, said Connie Betterton, vice president for higher education access and strategy at the College Board.

Anyone actually buying this nonsense?

I'll be sure to ask any new doctor I engage whether they were accepted to Med School on the basis of their 'Adversity score' or not.

Let's give Blacks 20 points for being Black but lets not pretend. Get it out in the open.

That's the creepiest part. They give you a score and you don't know it.

If I were a kid, I'd just lie about everything. Single, unemployed, drug-addicted mother living in a box under the freeway, yada yada yada.
