I don't post often, but this Vette was definitely one of the standouts in this forum that inspired me to get my car back on the road. A piece of me died when I saw the carnage and heard that she might not be coming back, so I'm desperately hoping that Mike does rebuild her.

:lurk:

Jamie Slick 02-16-2008 08:59 AM

thanks again ya'll. :blueangel:

Well, while I was in Atlanta last week for work, Mike got the engine and transmission taken out of the car. He wants to do a little cleanup on it tomorrow, and it goes to the body shop Monday morning! :yippee:

The appraisal came back at $50k minimum, $70k maximum.

Will keep you posted!

Sounds like a winner!

This will be intersting that as I recall the car was insured for 30K. I have allways wondered how they will settle in a case like this. I hope a shop can do the job for the payoff.

The owner was pretty certain that it would not be more than $23k or so MAX. That should put us in pretty good shape, as we have a $500 deductible on our insurance.

I will update though as the estimate is done, etc. (crossing my fingers....... )

I need an update with pics

The car is at the body shop without the engine and tranny. (that's sitting in our garage along with 2 other engines. :willy:)

We haven't gotten the estimate for repairs yet. It was supposed to be done this week, but the guy said he was really going to dig into it to make sure he accounted for every nut and bolt, etc.

So......really there is no more news to report and no pics.

We were given a time frame of 3 months best case scenario for repairs, 4 months would be more probable.

I know it probably won't happen, but I would SOOOOOOOooooooo like for it to be done so Mike can drive it to CI. We were both so anxious to have it there. We'll see.

Mikes situation had me take a look at my own policy. Thought about it continually as I followed your thread. Changed it today. Dropped 30% and now have an agreed value of $18,000.00. Not bad for $210 annually and no deductible. But now I'm limited to 1500 miles year. Since I got it in August Ive only put 300 or 400 on it so its really no problem.

pef427 02-29-2008 08:25 PM

Janie,
I would say that Mike should take this opportunity to add more HP to the engine...but I'll leave that to 427Hotrod!
I sure hope to see it @ CF CI IX.

Glad to hear progress is being made. Ya'll are going to post progress pictures right? I predict after some time this will be looked back on a just a bump in the road.

Jason told me about the car this past week.

Just read the entire thread. I'm glad everyone is ok and the car is being rebuilt. Hang in there. I've always wanted to see her, and I look forward to see her after the 2nd build.

 I'm glad you got your policy updated! I hope everyone will consider their insurance needs and make adjustments. We sure will when the car is finished.

It is not likely that you will see the car this year. :( I would love if it got finished by then, but I'm not real hopeful.

Where in the heck have you been! :willy:

Jamie Slick 03-02-2008 09:01 AM

I forgot to mention that he was talking about taking the insurance money again yesterday. :willy:

We even went to look at motorcycles. He said we could both get a new motorcycle if he does that.

I'd LOVE to have another motorcycle, but I'd rather him fix the car. I think he was just bored and wanted to go look.

427Hotrod 03-02-2008 12:56 PM

Did I hear HP increase?????

Hmmnnnnn.......

Just need to push that power curve up a little and get rid of all that nasty low end TQ. Let's get some high end TQ!!

Oh No...Fix the car bikes are easy to get your hand on. Mikes vette is just not that common. Stay with it.
