He should get alot of good years with that number on his back.

He is a good manager and seems like a good guy. His "during the game" interviews were always pretty good.

I'm thinking 1 good year before he switches to 29 .... but then again, we know how hard it is to repeat as World Champions, now matter what The Philadelphia Inquirer says. :D

We will be spending Thanksgiving down at our place in South NJ - can't wait ........... you'll know what I'll be wearing. :D

Ya know, I got up today with the thought being there are two winning baseball teams in the news this week. The Winners of the '09 World Series in The New York Yankees, which is something to be very proud of, and the other team who played in The '09 World Series, The Philadelphia Phillies, of which is also something to be very proud of. Granted the better of the teams DID win the series, but let's face it, to be runner up behind the likes of The New York Yankees is quite an accomplishment in itself, don't you think? Next to a Redsox/Yankees fight (I don't think we'll see that happen in my lifetime) what better than the Philadelphia/New York fight that we just watched unfold?

Say what you will, I think the '09 Series was (and is) a great example of American Baseball and a game between to rival towns that can hate each other and Love each other at the same time from one minute to the next.

Kudos to both East Coast teams and their cities. :flag:

You have to be the best to win one.

You have to be the Yankees to win 27.

Although not politically correct, being a gloating champion and a sore loser has appeal to me.

However, I remember this:

"In ancient Rome generals and emperors who had won a great victory
over one of Rome's enemies received on their return a triumphal
procession through the city's streets. In the procession were slaves
and captives, carts loaded with plunder, ranks of marching soldiers
and jaunty cavalry...

Always in this triumph a slave stood in the chariot behind the
victorious general. Over the general's head he held a garland of
laurel, signifying victory. Into the general's ear the slave
repeatedly whispered a caveat: 'All glory is fleeting. All glory is
fleeting."
