I took mine once to a drive-in. I wanted to see Gumball Rally because it had a C3 in the trailers. Of course it broke in half 5 minutes into the movie............

All the drive-ins around here are long gone......................:sadangel:

that's surprising. And a lot of you saying that live in the heartland where land is still relatively cheap.

There's just something special about sitting in your own hotrod watching a movie in the crisp night air under the stars.

I agree with you 100% and I wish we all had more time to enjoy things like that.

SHOWME 04-22-2007 02:11 PM

We have been planning a cruise night to the drive in with our local car club. We took the vette there two years ago and dropped the top. It was alot of fun and most of the people were very respectful. If we get it all set it should be a good time with the club.(Its just a car club open to all types of cars, muscle, custom, restored.)We should have everything from model T's,to vettes,to drag cars. They still take grills into the one by us.

Worked this time....

Never visited it, but I seem to remember old radio ads where the announcer used to say something like this "Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! US30 Dragstrip" in a very sharp loud tone...

I was living in Wilmettte (northern suburb) since 1959. Moved in Jan 06.
Last I knew WLS was a talk radio station. A shame...we used to pick up WLS at night in Fort Lewis, Washington back in 1970. Made me homesick listening to it. Do you remember WCFL (Super CFL)? Larry Lujack used to be on there. :yesnod:

I lived in the west suburbs. Used to drag race at Oswego Drag raceway in Oswego IL. in the 70's. I remember those old WLS US 30 commercials and WCFL AKA SuperCFL, uncle lar and little snotnosed tommy. Man Im getting old! Getting back to the original post. We have a drive-in in Earlville IL. Every spring there is a car show in downtown Earlville and an area reserved at the drive-in for the classic cars from the show.
