If you're looking for something new, get the Camaro when it comes out. Otherwise the C5. If you're not looking at buying right away, keep in mind that the newest C5 will be 5 years old in 2009 (I'm assuming this is when you're looking to buy considering you included the Camaro).

I probably wouldn't buy the first year Camaro either.

Camaro would likely be considerably faster too, considering the base V8 is 99% likely to be the 435(?) HP LS3. LS2 is end-of-life next year.

Granted, by then you could pick up a used Z06 for a similar price.

Get the C5 hands down:cheers:

Vampyre 05-12-2007 08:03 PM

Easiest way - Test Drive a C5 and you will be sold. :flag:
Skip the other cars, they are all nice, but nothing compared to a C5.

Mine gets 30MPG on highway trips and about 19 around the city and it could be higher it a drove easier, but what fun would that be. :)

Nothing better for the money!

Buy some good life insurance.

My wife over the years, thought motorcycles and convertible Corvettes were too dangerous. I bought a good life insurance policy.

Now I own a motorcycle and a Corvette convertible and for some reason my wife doesn't complain at all. She asks me "how come you haven't been riding your bike to work?" ...and she helped me pick out the Vette.

First thing im gonna say is test drive a C5 then the others. That will be the end of this thread i bet  Anyways, I debated these same cars before i bought my C5 and one thing i wasnt expecting, that helped determined my choice, was that fact that I am 6'2" and the C5 was the only one I was comfortable in while driving.

Only automatic transmission models.

Get a C5 and put a TT or Supercharger kit on it.

 Thats a lot of RPM's.

but the S2k will hit 9,000 before the Vette hits 6,000

LEANDRO 05-12-2007 09:24 PM

I am a honda tech. Unless you are 5'4" or smaller and about 170lbs and lighter forget the s2k. I is very cramped inside and a horriable car to drive for a long distance. There is no way i would take a s2k on a big trip. Now my c5 on the other hand i would not think twice about driving it across country. Just my .02

rtagz 05-12-2007 10:07 PM

I would go for the C5 and let the modding begin

On a Corvette Forum, you have to ask.

reactor2 05-13-2007 07:04 AM

Let give you my unbiased opinion. Go with the C5 :)

Solstice and Saturn Sky....What were Engineers Thinking ?

I looked at a Pontiac Solstice the other day. Being 6' 2" tall I thought it might be a bit cramped. Well, for it's size my bulk fit just fine inside the car. EXCEPT: I couldn't place my size 12EEE foot on the floorboard next to the clutch ! My foot has to rest on the clutch pedal. How assinine.

What were these morons thinking at GM when they designed this cockpit ? How can you design a car, after a 100 years of experience, where a foot won't fit on the floorboard next to the clutch ? ?

My foot has to rest on the clutch pedal.... because they put the freakin' clutch pedal too far to the left !

No wonder people are buying Toyotas !

I am not saying that you said this but i have a question? What make the c5 a chick car? I am not saying that there is anything wrong with women, but things that usually get labeled as a chick cars are like the miata, sky, or the caviler. IMHO the c5 is the farthest thing from a chick car. What the heck?

How can you really compare a C5 or any Corvette with those cars anyway. Not that there is anything wrong with them but they are completely different types of automobiles with no automotive heritage and not even close to a C5 in any way.
