I used to take the family retriever to every cruise night when I still lived at home...he was way more of chick magnet than my car.

My daughter has an American Bulldog. His white and tan colors go great with my brown exterior/tan interior 79. I take him in the car to go running at the local parks and he just loves to ride in the Vette with the tops off. Not every day do you see a 65# tall and lanky American Bulldog cruising in a Vette. We do get lots of smiles and waves.

Every time I go to her house to get him he goes "bonkers" waiting to climb aboard. With a nice quilt tucked into the front seat he can do no damage to the interior. I wish I knew how to include a picture.

Just you all wait till October. Yanks will be in the hunt. Pitching is coming around a bit. Bats are waking up too. Giambi has a Thurman Munson mustache circa 1978. Going to Yankee Stadium next weekend for my yearly pilgrimage.

I made a platform with a rug so he can lay down comfortably when we go touring. Or I can, when he drives.

Do you have any pictures of the platform and him on it?
I have two St. Bernards so it would be interesting trying to get at least one of them in. I think going through town with one of my dogs would be awesome. I am sure I would turn some heads .

It's just a piece of 1/2" OSB, oh maybe 20" wide by 30" long. I put a big wood block (6" x 9" x 12" ?) on the floor for the front of it to rest on, the other end on the seat. I made a divider from a peice of 1/4" plywood that's about 6" high above the console so he doesn't bump the shifter or controls. I had to do a bit of shaping on that to get it to fit down between the seat & console and be secure. Then I just put a 30" x 42" ? throw rug down over it all. there's even room for a bowl up under the dash so I can give him water or food if need be.

Wish I took my chocolate lab for a ride in the vette, she loved to go for car rides but she was a little to big for the vette. I had to put her down last night and its like we lost one of the family. But before we went to the vet I took her for a ride to the beach & took her down to the water for one last time. She couldn't stand so I had to put a towel under her back legs. Travis was a great dog, 13years old & never bite anyone until last night. She went out tough as nails and bite the vet when he was trying to give her the shot (not hard and didn't break skin but just enough to make him back off). I was holding her around the neck & said to her "easy girl it will be ok", damn if she didn't give me a lick on the cheek and let the Dr. give her the shot. Then I did something I didn't think I would do. At 6'2" 215lbs I cried like a baby holding her to the end. I hope its true that all dogs go to heaven. :sadangel:

i've got two siberian huskies who enjoy destroying things and not sitting still. we put them in the back of an SUV with a dog barrier so they get the whole trunk but they still have pulled one of the seatbelts back there and chewed right through it. and the other husky owner was right, once they get in, their fur never leaves. unfortunately i dont think they'll ever get a ride in the vette, but i'm looking forward to when my son is old enough! (only 11 months right now so the wife doesnt want him in the front seat)

Yes they do go to heaven. Five years ago we had to put our beloved Chelsea down (lab-german shepard mix), and I also cried like a baby. She was my constant companion. Chelsea is showing Travis the ropes right now, your girl is in good paws. Sorry for your loss and I do feel your hurt.

I dont even want to try to get it inside the vette:crazy:

thanks guys. I didn't mean to steal the thread or bring anyone down. feeling better tonight, miss the big brown tail wagging waiting for me to come in from the driveway. I figure they have to put down race horses when they can't get up & run and it helps ease the pain. wife asked if I would ever get another dog? I told her not anytime soon.
