I'm actually quite pleased with my '67 Marina Blue Chevelle SS-396. Several high school buddies had the same year and powertrain (but convertible, different colors) and we got up to a lot of teenage mischief in those rides. Somebody mentioned the Buick Grand Sport....a vastly under-rated car. Those things were quick as all hell and were disguised as Mom's grocery-getter.

The car that put muscle into the muscle car concept: The '65 GTO
|
I owed a couple cars on the list, sort of...a '69 Corvette (but a coupe) and a '70 Challenger 340/4-speed, and a '70 GTO "kinda" akin to the '69.
If I had the C2 thing buttoned up I'd probably go after the bumper C3 again. The Challenger is one of my favorite exterior shapes of the era, but after owning it I doubt I'd go back immediately. It would be down at number 8 or 9. Overall a little large, cheaply made, no too much fun to drive even for the era unless you were passing a shop window where you could see the car in motion...:D |
I had a 69 SS396 Camaro and a 69 427/390 Corvette Conv but I always wanted a Chevelle either 67, 69 or 70 and a 70 Callenger T/A. I also like a 69 Mach I.
Boy I wish I still had that Camaro! |

A '65 or '66 Shelby Mustang would be nice.
A '65 Buick Riviera Gran Sport (425 2x4, Switch-Pitch TH400, 3.42 posi with ALL of the available luxo options is always on my radar ...) But for purely nostalgic reasons I would want a 1966 GTO hardtop, 389 3X2, four speed in the console, 3:55 posi, full instrumentation, "wood" wheel, overhead reading lamps, reclining passenger front bucket seat and most oddly of all, full width wheelcovers on whitewalls. Ray (nah, I guess I never really have put much thought into it ...) |
two of which I used to own....a 68 Olds Ram Rod 350 (W-31) and a 68 Firebird 400 Ram Air.
|
1960 Chrysler 300F convertible as my first choice, and then a 70 Challenger convertible.

Technically only 4 on that list are muscle cars by 60s/70s definition. The others are ponycars or roadsters/sports cars.

I have a 70 SS 396 Chevelle. It is fully loaded black/black with silver stripes on the cowl. I have about 30 hours left to finish it up. My first car was a 65 GTO, so it will always be my favorite. I had it when I was young and seeing one always brings back great memories. Jerry

1968 Hemi dart. Case closed.....
|
Mine's on the list, 69 Camaro RS/SS. All I have to do is get it back on the road.
|
I got to test drive a 390 AMX recently.
Ever since, it's been calling to me..... |
I guess the 70 charger but I would settle for a super clean 68 coronet 440 . I had chevelles caminos corvettes and every gm pickup I miss the coronet . and room for family

The GTO. I already have a 68/

My story is the reverse:

I think I would go with a 68 Charger yellow/ Blk and Bkl Vinyl top 4spd Hemi. That should do it for me. When was the last time you said you wanted a Vinyl top? Just hope I could afford the insurance for all these toys.
:iagree:My cousin had one . I still remember taking a few drives in that car. That Hemi 426 motor was and still is a BEAST !! |
