MRC is the future of active suspensions.

I had it on my Audi TTRS and the amount of body control/composure you get with it is coil-over quality.

Think about it, various levels of damping to suit your mood plus active changes to the damping 1000 times a second. You just can't beat the body control that it offers without going to a full coil-over system

MSRC IS THE REAL DEAL

Besides the dry-sump oiling system, the Z51 also comes with bigger brakes, bigger and supposedly slightly stickier rubber, more down-force, and stiffer sway bars. Puts more "sport" into the sport car, which is enjoyable even off track.

The oil burping issue is not an issue and i know of no one that has had a problem with it. Besides, GM is giving you an extra oil change so you will get 5 free services when you buy the car. I've had mine about two weeks now and its absolutely beautiful and gets comments where ever I go with it. If the Z51 car is what you are looking for in all ways, go for it. Or you can order and wait about 9 plus weeks?

You should get the Z51 with MSRC. Most of the positives have been mentioned earlier, except the e-dif. When making shart turns and accelerating through them, this setup just feels so good. It's hard to explain but you can tell there is something special going on.

You mean you didn't follow a then unknown service recommendation about changing your oil? You are so f****d!

Have a 2015 3LT, Z51 with MSRC and love it!! No regrets. Over 3,500 miles so far, no problems other than the silly red X over GPS issue folks have been talking about.

Z51-MSRC 6000 miles no issues. Like mentioned above the magnetic ride control is awesome.

My Z51 rides quite nicely for a sports car with the magnetic ride control set in Tour/Eco/Weather modes. Even Sport is fine for most streets. It seems Chevy may finally start getting a handle on the oil burping issue, but otherwise, i don't have a single complaint about ordering the Z51 package.

Did I need it? No.
Did I want it? Yes :)

What he said - 😊 - Do you "need" the car? No. Do you want it? Yes. Get the Z51 - I did - Z51, 3lt, manual, comp seats and LOVE the car!

Z-51 with 11,500 miles and the only thing I have done other than oil changes and the shock recall is put on ceramic brake pads to solve the dust issue and AS tires so I can drive it all winter. Love it!!!

The canned, "if you aren't going to track the car you don't need Z51" responses are ass backwards. The appropriate comment should be, "if you are going to track the car you need Z51". Beyond that it's down to personal preference.

I've never owned less than an "S" version Porsche and had I not been able to get a Z51 C7 with MRSC I wouldn't own one. Again, personal preference.

I sways buy heavy duty, changed oil as normal for me at 484 miles my 15 z51 now has over 3000 miles no problems.

Get what you want or need, the car has a warranty and comes with 4 oil changes. I went with the ZF1 and I am pleased.

correction , it comes with 5 oil changes now since GM decided oil needed to be changed at 500 miles.Does anyone know the reason for this? I had oil changed today and dealer did not know anything.

C2367 11-25-2014 11:11 PM

Went two dealers about a week ago, one told me at 20% and the other told me at 6 months. This the first I have heard of 500 miles for the first oil change.

I own a base car but would have no problems buying a z51....

I agree with Glen.

If I were going to track the car I would get a Z51.

I am perfectly happy with my A6 base.:D

Like the OP I too came to my C7 from an '08 Z06. Mine had street tuned DRM Bilsteins and was the best handling setup I've ever had. When I got my base C7 I was disappointed in the handling so I added the Z51 shocks and swaybars for about $500. This made a HUGE improvement. I am considering going with the same setup on a '15 convertible.

It's a simple and fairly inexpensive fix.

Look, I wrestled with the same thing but then I found out the base handles as well as the C6 Grand Sport did and actually I liked the base wheels better. :yesnod:
So, since I now live in Florida with mostly flat , smooth and wide roads...not twisty hilly bumpy PA roads I went with the base. Actually you cannot go wrong with either choice. Good luck! The car looks okay too!

I never did any problems with the car and sold it due to health issues. Now, I have my sights set on a C7 Z51(dealer stock, very good price & right color) and all these posts about the "burping oil", 500 mile initial oil changes, stiff ride, etc have me wondering. There does not seem to be too many issues with the wet sump engine in the base car. Is the sky falling again?
Thanks for your input.

Have a 2014 Z51 with 3900 miles. Absolutely love it. I do not have MRC (might have gotten it now purely for re-sale, although I love the car so much I probably won't ever sell it) and the ride is slightly stiff, but not objectionably so (hell, this is a sports car), and there is a lot more to the Z-51 than taking it out and tracking it. I like the bigger tires and the bigger brakes and the everyday handling improvements are great.
As far as I'm concerned, if you have the bucks, get the Z-51!
