$10-$15k would not buy you a new engine or transmission though..

Agreed, personally, I wouldn't do it at all.

I would run like the wind away from that deal. With the warranty issue. Is a no brainer.
You have the following:
1. Brand new flat plane v8
2 New DCT

With such low mileage. The odds of someone breaking the car in properly may be low. The person may have dogged it for the few miles to have a bit of fun and had plans on making some money. Who knows. I guess they could have broken it in properly and without testing its capabilities. They decided to trade it in.

so what specs, color etc are you looking for.

Thanks

They're trying to unload this vehicle because they realized without a warranty their pool of potential buyers is very slim.

As mentioned, they can claim all they want about the aftermarket warranty, but it clearly states the vehicle is not eligible. A new DCT is ~$20k alone, and with the number of posts about electrical gremlins, I wouldn't touch one of these without a GM warranty in place.

Sounds like you are dead set on that car for some reason. If you are $$ell bent on getting it and can afford to pay for the maintenance yourself. Pull the trigger and keep us informed on how things go. I hope you get a flawless car and never have any issues outside of the regular maintenance. Good luck and let us know. Maybe go for 10k off so you can put that in the bank as your warranty.

Who does a deal where the price of the new car is contingent upon a trade-in? If a dealer is screwing around like that, find another dealer.

The “warranty” from Ally is worthless.

Sounds like walking away is a good way to go. Spend a few more dollars and get a car with the factory warranty intact.

the more you dig into many of the "I got my C8 Z06 for MSRP" deals involve a trade of some sort. From what I recall unless it's a different member, that member had a C8 already. My assumption was they took the C8 on trade and sold Him a Z06 at... msrp....

EvanZR1 04-10-2024 05:03 PM

Personally, I don't see an issue with requiring trade-in for getting a Z06 at MSRP. That was the requirement for getting mine at MSRP from a local dealer, but by the time the sales tax credit was factored in, I got right at what I could have sold it for private party and didn't have to put up with the headache of all the tire kickers and lowballers.

people are paying msrp with no trade in too.

dealer started at 10 over. Nope msrp (oh there is a list of guys who are willing to pay the ten over so he says sell it to them.)
texted the next day 7000 over nope msrp
texted the next day 5 over nope msrp
texted the next day msrp. Yep sold

no trade in.

pass on a no warranty c8. Repairs will crush the aftermarket warranty limit. Imo

buy a car with a warranty from gm

friends driving his 2LZ red mist brand new no trade in.

I would skip on this one, how much longer do you think do you need to wait for the Eray? Seems like they are starting to roll off the line now.

427Z0SX 04-10-2024 05:45 PM

I'm wondering why did the dealer buy it back from the 1st buyer? Surely they know that the car going forward would have no factory warranty, and it would be a major obstacle to sell it.

Great call on the window sticker grabber, I had no idea that existed. I actually asked them for it and they said they could find it. I'm going to tell them that I don't want the car unless they sell to me for no more than the MSRP price. They also told me that the vehicle warranty was more than the GM warranty, window sticker shows 5 year from GM. Here is the window sticker.

They are referring to the 3/36 B2B warranty

Z0HS1CK 04-11-2024 07:32 AM

I wonder if OP bought the car lol

I don't (and haven't) talk trade-in until the total OTD price of the new vehicle is agreed upon. Then I work the trade-in as an independent deal. If a dealer says a trade in is required or that the price of either is dependent on one another, I go somewhere else.

And that's exactly what I did. New Z06 was MSRP, if I couldn't have gotten what was acceptable for trade-in, then I could have walked from the deal.

You indicated above the MSRP deal required you to trade in your SR. Yes you could've walked if you didn't receive what you considered a fair trade-in value, but the price of the new Z shouldn't have anything to do with whether or not you're trading in a vehicle.
