Wish I took my chocolate lab for a ride in the vette, she loved to go for car rides but she was a little to big for the vette. I had to put her down last night and its like we lost one of the family. She went out tough as nails and bite the vet when he was trying to give her the shot (not hard and didn't break skin but just enough to make him back off). I was holding her around the neck & said to her "easy girl it will be ok", damn if she didn't give me a lick on the cheek and let the Dr. give her the shot. Then I did something I didn't think I would do. At 6'2" 215lbs I cried like a baby holding her to the end. I hope its true that all dogs go to heaven. :sadangel:

Sorry Jim79 for your loss, we've also lost 4 here in the last 4 years, one being my brothers dog Freddy (my avitar pic) he was like one of my own. I cared for him his last 5 months and spoiled him rotten during that time, he was pretty sick. I still drive 22 miles daily to walk his surviving brother that my Mom adopted now.
It takes awhile to heal, the guilt, hurting, crying, missing them etc...

When your ready get another dog definatly, there's to many in shelters and could use someone like you and your wife to give them a great family life, or where ever you might choose to get one. Your not replacing her, your giving another a good home when and if you do.
