Bump for the smoothest shifter on the market :)

liveaboard74 11-11-2011 06:14 PM

Got mine and have to say it shift a lot smoother than the stock one. Took a little getting use to but love it now. Got the MOMO knob on top. Looking good. :)

Does the leather shift knob have the gear shift pattern on it?

Great stocking stuffer for your Vette buddy or for your Vette!

Looking for a replacement shifter that's nice and smooth? Here's your solution!

Does this shifter rattle or vibrate when you accelerate?

Excellent shifter!

I just installed my shifter, this week, going from a BPP to this one.
I then swapped out my bullet-style shifter knob for a spherical and love the feel.
The bullet style is perfect for shifters like the Hurst and BPP but because of the angle and shorter stature of the TPS, the spherical style feels right.

All in all, I highly rate the TPS Z06 shifter - shorter throw than stock and just as quiet.

I've had mine installed for about 6 months now and I'm still as happy with it as the first day I installed it. Short, percise shifts and feels solid going into each gear. I think that the angle is perfect for me. I'm using a bullet style shift knob...some of you would likely prefer the ball style...but that's totally a personal preference. One of my favorite mods I've done to date on my FRC.:thumbs:

How much effort is required to put into 1st gear? The reason I ask is I tore my rotator cuff and I am having a problem (it hurts :() putting the B&M shifter I have into first.

Thanks.

chasboy 12-30-2011 11:05 AM

how does it affect shift effort?

I think a shifter is one of the best mods one can do for their car as it's one of those items that give you feedback all the time. Glad your still happy with it.

It does not affect the shift effort much at all. It's a little bit stiffer than the C5 but if you have ever driven a C6 then you will get the idea of how nice it shifts :)

It takes very little effort to get into 1st gear. The shifter is a modified C6 shifter so it is very smooth and easy to shift.

I went to the San Diego auto show, yesterday and tried out many, many shifters. Known to be the best out there are those in the MX5 (Miata) and Civic Si but I felt like there wasn't that much difference in feel between them and the TPS shifter in my C5.

When I first glanced at your post I thought they had some kind of 'shifter board' with all the shifters mounted for you to try!! Might not be a bad idea....:crazy2:

That would've saved me hours of walking around! Fortunately, I enjoy checking out the seats, engine, tires, dash layout, etc of a select group of cars. The sad thing about most is that there are very few gauges, things I love to look at. Yes, having the ability to scroll through digital info is nice but having gauges right there at all times never gets old. I even went so far as to install a triple gauge pillar pod and plug-in voltage monitor in my other car, an 89 Mazda MX6 GT. After owning Corvettes for the last 32 years, I'm very spoiled when it comes to gauges!

are these still avabile??? what about the knob deal also
