If that's an upper limit, then I'd rather not stretch myself to that extreme if it can be avoided. Fortunately, there is a way: C8 Stingray. Gets you most of the way there for a better value. I'd much rather invest the difference especially now that the Fed has paused rate hikes and announced rate cuts. Markets flipped to risk on, no more fighting the Fed. The multiples I can earn in those investments could net me a couple ZR1s or even Zoras in a few years.

But if that's a comfortable limit, then weighing opportunity costs becomes less of a matter (though still always present). Everybody's financial situation is different.

Made enough in the last 2 days to buy a fully loaded 3LZ, but still can’t justify it to myself.

Got the call last January. I had been on the dealer's list for 3 years. He told me there would be a $50k ADM on the car, I had to pass! If I could have purchased it for MSRP, I expect I would have went for it and replaced my 2016Z I decided later to go with the C8 HTC and have been very pleased. From a logic standpoint (which doesn't come into play with most of us), if you don't plan to track the car, the C8 stingray is probably a better choice. It is very quick, smooth and quiet. A great performance cruiser. The $3000 gas guzzler tax on the Z06 was also a shock. Do what makes sense to you. You are the one that has to be satisfied at the end of the day!

Yea I’m not thrilled with the tax either. I’m still thinking the whole situation out in my head.

What a beautiful car!!

Why blow another 30g when you have more options in the car you just got. No need , the speed limit is the same in either car. Makes no sense, but then again, “ what does” now days…lol

FYI, your PM box is full.

Hypersonic Gray Metallic:

BTW, have you seen the Accelerate Yellow in person? I recently saw a C8 from a distance with the color and it looked greenish to me, kind of like a light lime. Don't know if the angle of lighting was a factor.

Yes definitely has a greenish hue to it. My feeling is a Z06 deserves an outlandish color but even that is subject to change.

Changes depending on the angle of the light.

I mentioned it just in case. I've seen it up close, it is vibrant and the metallic really makes it come alive.

You’re not going to get it, just get them to give me the allocation … :P

Yea no issues ordering a Z06 next month. I have no doubts in the car any longer.

Rapid, what's the longest you kept one of the C8s? In time and mileage?

About a year and 5K miles give or take.

Wow, that would be a very hard decision for me…. I did a little homework and with a so many SR’s sitting on lots selling at msrp it looks like I would take about a $10k hit on my 23 and then pay about $40k for a equivalent Z. I definitely would love to have a Z but I just don’t think I would love it $50k more than what I have.

If you get it, it will definitely be cool. If you don’t I think your new black beauty looks amazing too…

:iagree:
While part of me (a large part) would say let’s do it, the rest of me would be asking why?
I wouldn’t track it so how would I benefit except for bragging rights? Hard to justify 50k for that, personally.

I am thrilled with the performance of the SR on the street and don’t feel I could justify that much more. Sometimes I wish I could though. :D

But congrats to those that can, I’m sure it is a phenomenal Corvette.

Maybe when it is time for my next Corvette I can justify one.

If it’s affordable per your budget, do it. The Z06 is one special car….motor. Last of the greats and bound to be a car that’s talked about for years to come.

:iagree:

Yes im thinking about it.

Don't do it. As I recall you traded in the Z51 for a base model because the suspension was too hard on your back. Would the ride in the Z06 be similar to the ride in the Z51 that you had?

PaulCPO 12-24-2023 12:06 PM

Really the only thing I like better about a Z is the look (wider stance in the rear/wider rear tires).

There was someone picking theirs up at the museum the same time we picked up ours and honestly, I prefer the exhaust note of the SR.

'Bout muddy my shorts as it is in the SR. Can't imagine the car with almost 200 more HP. I would say it is way more car than most people can handle. Too much money for bragging rights IMO.
