The attraction of the C8 is twofold. One it is a mid engined machine that is incredible from a drivers perspective. Then you have the looks which are partially borne of the mid engine design. When I sit in my C8, I am looking at the pavement. Not some long assed hood. Suffice to say, when you combine the mid engine with the killer looks, it’s hard to look away.

As it should be for $300K As good as the Paint job on my Street Rod is, done by a true artist (with all flames painted after the base coat then followed with a number of coats of clear after the flames) no match for a shop in town. But they do Show Cars from FL to NY starting at ~$25,000. Takes wet sanding the bare metal, each prime, color and clear coat! Then final buffing etc. Can't achieve as high a quality with composite panels as steel! But love my BG LBR right from the factory! As do most who see it and I just use Zaino, nothing fancy. Top pics he's spraying black on the masked flames for the pin strips he covers with 1/8-inch masking tape and used an Exacto knife to shape the ends. Like is stated. I know people that use Ferrari as their daily driver. That was the question.
Do they take them on road trips? I don’t know. Yes they have less storage than a C8. So what? Lots of people on this forum bitch about limited C8 storage space. Sure, those that have them as DDs aren’t worried about maintenance cost any more than C8 people. It’s all relative. |

If you ask this, you have not been around Ferraris very much. First, the current low end Ferrari is the 296GTS which has 7 cubic feet of trunk space. The C8 Corvette has 80% more space. You won't be taking the wife on a very long driving trip in the 296. If you drive a Ferrari like you could a C8 Corvette, your maintenance costs would rival what you paid for the C8 Corvette. Put 10,000 mile per year on a 296 and you are looking at huge maintenance bills after 6 year. The Ferrari is generally reliable but the maintenance schedule is busy and the costs are astronomical.

Not sure about the dates of the other cars, but the C7 design was in development long before the F12 was revealed, so it would have been hard for GM to "copy" a car that they had never seen. A case of convergent design. (The C7 looks better, too.)
