The attraction of the C8 is twofold. One it is a mid engined machine that is incredible from a drivers perspective. Then you have the looks which are partially borne of the mid engine design. When I sit in my C8, I am looking at the pavement. Not some long assed hood. Suffice to say, when you combine the mid engine with the killer looks, it’s hard to look away.

:iagree: I liked every year Vette of my 6 from my 1st a 1988. But soon after I placed my "Hold-A-Spot" order right after the July 2019 C8 reveal I was walking toward my C7 Grand Sport. As I always do with all my cars, it was parked at the end of mall parking lot. In our town there are many empty places as it was in this case. So a long walk. The Grand Sport was parked in an angled parking spot similar to pic below. Perhaps it is that angle but thought "That long hood is looking dated." I loved in my 260Z BUT that was 1974! It's now 2020!

That is 100% a pirated copy, and is stealing from the author, if one cares.

I do not know that to be a fact, but suspected it as a possibility, and that is the reason I did not post the link. It is easy to find with a search which is how I found it, and it has been there for along time. I have a hard copy from the museum.

I love my C8. But side by side with a Ferrari it's no comparison. The Ferrari 488 quality is simply amazing.

As you say, as expected. But recall a Ferrari dealer saying even though the cars he receives from Maranello look good he invests >$2000 in paint correction before putting in his showroom.


As good as the Paint job on my Street Rod is, done by a true artist (with all flames painted after the base coat then followed with a number of coats of clear after the flames) no match for a shop in town. But they do Show Cars from FL to NY starting at ~$25,000. Takes wet sanding the bare metal, each prime, color and clear coat! Then final buffing etc. Can't achieve as high a quality with composite panels as steel! But love my BG LBR right from the factory! As do most who see it and I just use Zaino, nothing fancy. Top pics he's spraying black on the masked flames for the pin strips he covers with 1/8-inch masking tape and used an Exacto knife to shape the ends. Then he sprays the dark silver flame color before clear. All had to be done within 24 hours of applying the base coat!)

I know people that drive Ferrari's as their daily drivers.

Why would it me more impractical than driving a C8 as a daily?

Or where the hell has he been for the last 40 years. Corvette has copied Ferrari since the C3.

I was wondering that too. It does have a smaller "boot" capacity - 170 l which is 6 cu ft, compared with the whopping 12 cu fit that the C8 has. But it has 20 gallon tank. I drove my C5 to/from work for years - never needed to use the trunk space for that.

If you ask this, you have not been around Ferraris very much. First, the current low end Ferrari is the 296GTS which has 7 cubic feet of trunk space. The C8 Corvette has 80% more space. You won't be taking the wife on a very long driving trip in the 296. If you drive a Ferrari like you could a C8 Corvette, your maintenance costs would rival what you paid for the C8 Corvette. Put 10,000 mile per year on a 296 and you are looking at huge maintenance bills after 6 year. The Ferrari is generally reliable but the maintenance schedule is busy and the costs are astronomical.

So, yeah, if you are super rich and don't have to go anywhere far away, sure, you can daily drive a Ferrari!

Like is stated. I know people that use Ferrari as their daily driver. That was the question.

Sure, those that have them as DDs aren’t worried about maintenance cost any more than C8 people. It’s all relative.

Doesn't Ferrari include 7 years of maintenance? At least you get 1 free service with your C8.

Not sure about the dates of the other cars, but the C7 design was in development long before the F12 was revealed, so it would have been hard for GM to "copy" a car that they had never seen. A case of convergent design. (The C7 looks better, too.)

The other cars were out long before the respective Corvette. And I find it hard to believe the C7 wasn't copied from the F12 given GM's track record. I disagree re: which looks better. :cheers:
