You need one more option - impressed but will wait for ME or C8.

Would buy it if I lived in Europe and could use it on the autobahn and mountain roads.
Problem would be purchase taxes, up to 100% of the cars price in Norway, $9/gal gas, etc.

Doesn't pay to replace my 2016 A8 Z06 with mods that have no impact on the warranty.
Car has 710 hp at the crank that most of us that do not track the car are hard pressed to use for more than a brief shot. Paid very low 70's for the car and less than $1K for the mods. As where I live has yearly excise tax, much less than a new ZR1.

I'm not incredibly impressed with the new ZR1......Yet. In the past, the C4 and C6 ZR1 both delivered a large leap in powertrain engineering, delivering engine platforms not previously used in the Corvette.

The differentiating qualities of the C7 ZR1 seem to focus on fixing the real or perceived engineering deficiencies of the C7 Z06 by bolting on existing or new parts. The 2300 blower is nothing new, however the combination of direct plus port injection should help the fueling issues on modded cars (plus the DI coking issue for those that believe it exists).

The cooling issue was a disaster for the racetrack on the C7Z, and providing added cooling for the ZR1 is not a milestone engineering change, it's something the C7Z was grossly deficient in. Similarly, the aero on the C7Z is a compromise, where form was traded for drag.

I love my C7Z though, it has been my most-fun Vette yet. I'll be impressed with the ZR1 if it can sustain a full 20 or 30 minute track session without overheating or reducing any of its 755 horsepower, in hot weather with a fast driver. Until then, I'll settle for "I really like it". If it delivers, I'll be impressed and may trade my C7Z for one.

I did think about it, but thought "I'm impressed, but won't buy" would be a catch-all for the many different reasons out there.

Impressed with the power, not so much with the body....looks like a C7 Stingray with a big ugly wing on it, I'm going out to the garage right now to hug my C6

sTz 11-14-2017 05:43 PM

^^^ While the ZR1 is a C7, its appearance is certainly distinguishable from a Stingray.

Caveat!

"What can this sucker do!"
The only thing I'm sure of is that 9.9s at MIR eventually, and that's just based on what's been done already!

LOVE it, but too expensive for me...

And I'd like to add, that's my problem, not Chevrolet's.

It's the kind of car which makes me proud to be an American!

:flag::cheers:

Can't stand the high wing. Great for the times you are actually on a race track or on your trailer headed to a race track. All other times it is totally ricer. Maybe the low wing model but no pictures yet.

So I will wait for the ME to replace my 16 Z06......or maybe call Callaway to get 757 hp! At much less cost.

A SC757 that we installed a cooling kit on actually delivered today and while on the phone with the owner he mentioned the ZR1 coming out with 750hp and I replied yes and you already have one. Seriously the only difference between a SC757 with a LG cooling system and a ZR1 is a front bumper.

I love raising the bar!
It brings more attention to our favorite sports car. I'll carry on happily with my C7 & C3 and be the first to congratulate all the new owners!!!

Sorry LG but your modded car is not the same as the ZR1 and you guys know it. If you added additional radiators that will benefit from the new nose you probably have voided any warranty that GM would ever consider. Or at the very least they have more ammo to deny a claim. Plus, you did nothing for additional downforce/drag that the two different wings provide. I am not putting you down or your product, I really like what you do and mentioned your stuff in another thread today. Keep doing what you do in that respect.

sunsalem, I forgot to tell you-I got your poll put together for this thread!

Bowtie52 11-14-2017 09:34 PM

I'm not impressed and not interested in the middie.....I'll stick with my 17 LBR Z06 M7 and in my opinion its the King!

winstonc 11-15-2017 08:34 AM

Would buy with the A10 transmission.

RJ-92 11-15-2017 10:41 AM

I voted impressed but won't buy, only because i'm not currently in the market for a car in this price range. If i was, I would likely buy one.

l2vette 11-15-2017 12:12 PM

I am totally impressed but, my Z06/7 can now be called the Baby Beast!!

capevettes 11-16-2017 08:25 AM

Sure I'm impressed. 755 horsepower in a great package is not disappointing. The car should be the King of The Hill at the track. We can nit pick all we want, but you have to be thrilled that cars with this kind of power are being made at all
As for me, my Z06 is only a year and a half old with under 8,000 miles. I'm more interested in the C8 or mid engine when it comes out. I wasn't stimulated to buy the C6 ZR1 when I owned a C6 Z06. This is kind of the same scenario. In retrospect, I'm glad I waited for the C7 Z06. The C7 ZR1 is the last hurrah for the generation, kind of a C7 Z06 on steroids. I'm content to enjoy my Z06 and wait for the ME.

mirage2991 11-16-2017 10:49 AM

I'm impressed but probably won't buy, though still on the fence...I'd have to sale my C6ZR1 and I'm not sure I want to do that, and I've kinda already decided my next expensive car should be a V10 category and probably exotic... but nothing is in stone, I do really really like the front end and provided there is no BS like over heating issues and what not, I think I could be convinced I need one lol...WITH the giant park bench, please :)

I love the driving characteristics of a RWD ME.
I'll wait to see what GM comes up with.
