What clutch did they use in 08 C6?

I'm pretty sure that the 08 C6 Z51 has the same trans as the Z06, but did they also use the same clutch, how bout diff and TQ tube???
Thanks,
JB

trannies:

base - MN6
Z51 - MZ6
Z06 - M12

Trannies are different. Z51 tranny is geared lower than either the Z06 or the base model. I haven't read anywhere nor would figure that they would drop the MZ6. It's great for pulling out of corners.

They have superseded all clutches to the Z06 rating. No need to carry multi. part numbers. They started this in 07. when they upgraded the rear ends in all C6's to Z06 standards. The increase in cost was mininal.

i thought the 08 c6's have the new tr6060 in them.

Someone posted the slide that all 08 models use the same transmission. Not sure about the clutch, but I would assume so.

The only thing I know is that it has the same problems as the older C6's. My co-worker has 700 miles on his 2008 Z51 and while on his way home from work Sunday, the clutch went to the floor and didn't come up until he pulled it up with his foot so he could get home. Taking it to the shop today.

me wonders if this an 'air in the line/system' issue. any idea if they bleed or burb the system at the factory after they fill it?

the slave and master are prefilled from suppliers(this is not fact, but I would assume on all the parts I've seen prior)

I do not believe the standard C6 has the Z06 differential. There are no gears available (yet) to change ratios for the 9" Z06 differential, it is common to change gears in the 8.5" C6 Coupe/Vert differential.

I've been under my 08 C6 Z51, and the Diff is large. I've also been in touch with Unitrax, and they don't quite have a diff ready for the 08s yet, so I'm quite sure the 08 Diff, at least on the Z51, and maybe on them all, is probably the same as the Z06.

Well the Z06 diff has a larger capacity for fluid. I know the diff was revised for 08 with smoother gears but I can't find any information on part numbers that would indicate they are both the same.

I think you are referring to the tranny

Chuck Cow said the '08 diff. IS different than the previous years for ALL '08's.:flag:

cfi_luz 10-16-2007 04:57 PM

I don't think the diff is the same on the z06 vs. regular c6 as the z06 has larger gears and a diff cooler.

Mine did the same thing, it's in the shop now. I had to pull mine up with my hand. But after that it was fine. I have 687 Miles on mine. Please Let me know what he finds out. PM me I'll keep you informed on my end.

Thanks Tim

Slave Cylinder went out, they ordered a new one. The Mechanic said it’s a big job to replace. GM gives them 5 Hours.

They can definitely be done in 5 hours if you don't bull**** around.

Chrisguga 06-19-2019 10:31 PM

That’s how I bought my last Corvette. Flew from Valdosta, GA to Omaha and drove it home.

PM me your best price and we’ll see.

Chuck CoW 06-20-2019 12:43 AM

5 hours is not realistic..... even for a 100 new car....

5 hours is not realistic..... even for a 100 new car....

Now this it's a few years old, exhaust studs, leaky rear seal or cover.... dry torque tube bearings or bad quibos and

tired fluid that needs changing will guarantee you it's NOT a 5 hr job.

If someone tells you they can do the right job, flywheel and all in 5 hours..... RUN the other way.

It's an all day affair even for a shop like ours that's done 1,000 C5 and C6 drivetrain clutch changes.

Good job! You have the record for the month so far, a nearly 12 year old thread and completely unrelated to the original post!
