In Calgary, the roads are pretty free of snow. BUt they are definitely not free of gravel and sand and wreckless drivers....:ack: I think it will be another two to three months yet before I will take mine out on the road.

When the snow melts and the roads are cleaned up.
Maybe June.

Calgary here. I'm running a C5Z, but my dad has the 08 C6Z06. Getting the itch to get the car back on the road since it's been so warm. The gravel will be a bitch but I will probably just duct tape the critical sections of the body work and grit my teeth.

Anyone going to be hitting up Race City this summer? I've signed up for a ton of race days to go beat the **** out of the car on the full road course.

They are designed to flatten our potholes when we drive over them.

Go to Canadian tire and get some mud flaps for the sand.
Just kidding. Not a bad idea though. I had them on my C5 when I lived in Edmonton.

Steve

Hello again my friend, long time no see.

My car runs great. Got the AR headers from Andy[ he said hello ] , installed a K&N cold air, 180 stat, ported the throttle body and installed 3:15's.
My tuner thinks it should run 11's and should stay close with a stock Z. Only have 900 miles on the car and 400 on the gears, so I still need to do more breakin driving but I can't wait to run up to Fontana and see what it will run. My DR's are still in Edmonton so I might have to ship them down cause I don't want to burn up my new Runflats.

Cheers

Not free of snow today, snowing like crazy. I'd be fine if everyone would just get out of my way!
April is usually when I bring mine out for short jaunts, although I'll keep it off the Deerfoot until they sweep off the gravel.

2 years then the land reverts back to the city. Road course, oval, and drag strip closing-no news yet of any new facilities. :ack:

jayzelazo 02-28-2008 01:59 PM

I just got my 06 C6Z back from the US.

It has the Quality Motorsports Ported heads/QM600 car/fresh shortblock/Ram dual disc, etc. Made 589whp on the dyno, and it wasn't even broken in yet. This will be a road course car, primarly for SoloSprint. Penske shocks/Brembo brakes/APR wing and splitter.

Best centrifugal system going for the C6's from an installer standpoint. Comes with the larger T-trim blower, 66lb/hr injectors and a huge front mount intercooler. We've done 3 Z06's and 1 C6 so far, I personally installed all 4. Z06's finish up at 585-590whp with long tube headers/exhaust.

Hey, go down to the Edmonton Motor Show, we have an 07 Z06 on display with this system on it. Steve will be there till Sunday at 12.

Secret street has no track prep. 12.2/122 on stock tires will be a good run.Typical d.a. of 5800'. Try traction control on and off - see which works better for you.

I have not tried taking off with the traction control off yet. I need to give it a few runs with moderate take off before I dare to really let her loose. 505-hp is the highest horsepower I have ever owned. Will attempt some dry-runs this spring when the road is clean again.

Quick Count

I counted the following:

9 from Alberta responded so far. Of the nine,

six from Calgary
1 from Airdrie (soon to be part of Calgary North :D)
1 from Sherwood PArk
1 from Stoney Plain

Someone wants to confirm this?

I'd bet a rocker arm (yikes) that a local dealer would subsidize a get together/track event..???

Well good thing I do not have to spell Edmonchuk (I mean Edmonton). Hey, meeting in the summer time seems like a good idea. I would love to cruise out to Banff or somewhere in the mountain. May be a long drive for you guys from up North.

I heard the owners of Race City were looking at building a new track closer to Airdrie/Balzac, any truth to this?

I'd have no issues with race city closing if they build an even better track. I just got into road racing last year and it would seriously suck to have to quit so soon! I at least need enough time to get the cash for a C6Z! :(

Z06pack 03-05-2008 10:01 AM

Howz it goin eh?
Dont ex edmontonians count in the numbers.

I used to own a C5Z and took it there on Friday's for, I'd say, at least 100 passes over 2 years (out of which I got a 12.9 only three times). Although it's fun, don't expect to run great times. Calgary is very high above sea level (3300') causing your engine to make less power and your drag strip times suffer in consequence.

Having driven my car both at sea level in Ottawa, and here in Calgary, the difference really is night & day.

And if you do decide to go, try not to miss the "annual inspection" night. This will let you bypass the rest of the tech inspections for the rest of the season as long as you don't make any *major* modifications.
