***Stealth Light Cannons V2 - Most awesome headlights ever! (In Development)

Due to popular demand, I will be reinventing my extremely popular Stealth light cannons under the new name “SLC V2”This new model will feature several improvements over the basic version while retaining the strength, ease of installation and same price.

The old design for reference:
http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_1459.jpg

New version will include:

- Bi-xenon main beam projectors: (High and low beam from a single projector)
- Improved projector optics deliver a wider pattern with more intensity and a smaller step cutoff to allow improved left side vision.
- Computer-designed and CNC cut Shroud mold for perfect texture and a professional look.
- New Optional packages.

To wet your tongue, here’s a few shots of the heart of the system: The new projectors:

Anticipated Development schedule:

October 15: 3D scan original shroud mold for CAD modification.
October 18-22: modify 3D scanned image for new projectors and smooth out lines.
October 25: 3D shroud image complete. Transfer to CNC machine.
*GP begins*
October 31: GP ends. Shroud molds completed. Orders placed.

Special note: One of the options I will offer is a Dual-55w Bi-xenon setup. This will be the most powerful headlight setup for any production car ever produced pumping out over 12000 lumens of focused light. (compared to about 1800 lumens from the OEM headlights. I’m attempting to come up with a name for this option package. As of now, I’m holding a contest among you guys and gals to name this kit.

Rules:
1) Only 1 name nomination per person/per day
2) Contest will last for 1 week (ending on Saturday Oct 23)

Grand prize: Winner will receive a free upgrade from the base model to the dual bi-xenon version.

The "Super Lum" option haha

Can't wait to see the updated editions.

I *think* I have the breathless performance headlights on my car (bought the car with them on) and I'm not very happy with the high beam or night time illumination in general. How hard will it be to buy these and install with the wiring and everything already used with my current headlights?

Should be even easier than with the stock lights since the motor assembly and frame is already removed. Assuming you have the OEM bulb connectors it should also be plug and play.

Stealth Cannon "Super Novas"

y2krtaf 10-17-2010 07:25 AM

Simple...
With that much light output,I would call them

StunGuns!

ZFORME 10-17-2010 09:12 AM

That would be a "Hyper" version short for Hyperion - Greek Light God!

Hyperion, that is the best one so far and will be hard to beat

Hmm... I've gone through two versions of the Light Cannons with you. I would love to upgrade again to this new stealth light. Maybe after I complete my new engine build, I will save up for this one! Way to go, improving the lights!

Interesting read:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperion_(mythology)

These are the 3D scans we're starting with. (the molds originally designed for the first SLCs) I should have updated pictures of the modified versions by next weekend.

Changes will include:
- smaller hole for new projector design
- C6-style contoured light openings
- Complete tubular style opening for the projector which should elminate the need for the lens-frosting process required with the original model.
- Precisely aligned light openings (both will be perfectly parallel)
- Significantly improved surface texture.
- Significantly smoother compond curves
- Passenger side will be a perfect mirror image instead of rough measured like the originals.

Introducing the new LIGHT FLYERS from the one and only Radio Flyer! These Lights will make your Corvette look like it is ready to FLY!

Can I put a deposit on these. I just read the changes and really want a set lol.

JMc 10-18-2010 11:48 PM

Call the dual bi-xenons "Death Stars".

TheDVS1 10-19-2010 01:30 AM

The U.S. tested an atomic cannon back in 1953 with 280mm shell shot from an 11" barrel. Name of the cannon was Atomic Annie.

Maybe a little feminine, but I vote for Atomic Annies!

Count me in for these, got money in hand ready to put a deposit down as soon as your ready.

Thanks for your continued product development and a name for your upgrade "visionary".

What is the price?

Price will be 1275 shipped to the 48 states. International shipping is available and a RHD model will also be an option for export vehicles.

Additional options will include:

- Foglight secondary projectors (inner projectors use a Halogen Yellow or 3000K HID bulb. Shield is modified for a flat cutoff instead of a stepped cutoff. ZO6s and cars not equipped with fogs can use a special harness and a replacement OEM foglight switch to maintain OEM style operation. (This is similar to my current personal setup)

- Halo rings - BMW style circles around your projectors. For certain available in white. Possibly available in amber/orange.

Update: As of yesterday, the revisions to the scanned 3D mold were submitted for processing. I should have an updated design for you guys soon. :D

yes. Both nner and outer projectors will be running with low and high beams. The only Difference is the pattern. In high beam mode, the cutof shield moves and your output is essentially doubled.

So now that I can paint my own lights and figure I can sell my stock assemblies for about $500 these are looking pretty tempting.

Can they still be painted to match the car?

Yes. I suggest using a paint that can flex without cracking as the shroud may need to be bent slightly during installation.

Lancejoker 10-24-2010 06:31 PM

Didn't even think about selling the stock lights to help offset the cost. Can't wait to see the new shrouds.

I cannot say for certain as I have never used it. Your painter or local body shop would know. The shroud material is the smooth side of a material called ABS.

Yeah plus I realize now after some thought that the factory color match doesn't necessarily mean a factory paint type match. I'll make sure I check on the paint flexibility. Can't wait to see the finished product.

The finalized 3D rendering is almost complete. Most of the major structural changes have been made. The process it taking slightly longer than I had antcipated, but I'd rather wait a little longer and make it perfect.

How are these going to mount? Like I said earlier, I have the breathless performance and they aren't mounted very well. Look like by just a few bolts. I'm very interested but I need to make sure I'm going to get a good product for $1200. Edited to add I guess is there going to be mounting hardware or do I need parts from the popup assembly or what?

Thanks

The mounting design is similar to the Breathless kit in that the projectors are mounted to an aluminum frame seperate from the shroud/lens assembly. The Projector frame mounts to both the front of the wheel well AND the frame rail for maximum stability. The Lens/shroud assembly mounts to body bolts-screws with critical lens sections "hooking" under the body panels to keep the body lines consistant.

thanks for the update.

Good News: The Final shroud design is in. I will begin the GP tomorrow morning and include a link in this thread.

Final shroud pics:
- perfectly smooth contoured surface
- both "tubular cutouts" are perfectly aligned
- Now featuring C6-style "bump" in the projector contour area for a clean look.

I"m afraid not. I do plan to offer and SLC to SLC V2 upgrade kit. It will be rather expensive since the only parts that are trasnferrable are the main lens, Hi-4 harness, HID ballasts and some mounting hardware. Price on that is TBA

Please send me info on how to purchase these. I need to replace the motor on my right front 2001 C5 Headlamp assembly. I've already done a gear replacement 2 years ago and I'm ready to go with fixed headlights! Do you have a web page that details this kit? Is the assembly 50 state DOT approved?

The Optics themselves are 50-state legal. Assuming they are properly aimed, they should pass any inspection without a problem.

The lights themselves are not yet available for purchase as the shroud molds have encountered every speed bump possible in their construction. The molds are currently undergoing re-finishing to prep them for thermo-forming. (this is the last step before the prototype is produced and the GP begins)

If you want, i can put you on the priority list of people to be contacted as soon as the GP is started.

Can anyone please comment on the lifespan of the "bulbs" in this kind of setup? I'm getting tired of replacing the h4's in my euros every 6 months or so... (daily driver and a lot of nighttime usage)

Also - just so I'm understanding correctly, these new cannons will have the clear overlay cover like the first post?

Thanks.

84Wolf 01-22-2011 12:43 AM

HID bulbs last far longer than Halogen bulbs. You can expect 2500 hours with a good D2S HID bulb / 35W setup. Using 50W ballasts will lower bulb life to about 2000 hours, as long as quality components are used. Standard 9005 High Beam Halogen lasts about 150 to 350hours, and a standard 9006 Low Beam Halogen lasts about 1000 hours.

Blorton 01-22-2011 08:41 AM

Thank you very much, Wolf. That's exactly what I needed to hear.

If this is possible I am interested in getting in on this:lurk:

This is possible. I can get the shroud material in Black or white ABS. Either can be painted, but the base color should be picked based on what color the paint will be. For instance: Yellow should be painted on a white shroud and blue would do well on a black shroud.
