Interior LED Install: Steps w/loads of pics

Over the weekend I installed an interior LED-light system that I got from Andrew6 at DoubleAA <CLICK HERE>. The system was a PITFA to install, but worth the effort.

I'm going to post the pics with captions, as that is easier with so many photos. Of note, I chose blue LEDs, got the LED cupholder, LED strips for the footwells and waterfall, they came with a RF remote control on/off/dimmer, and a battery pack to test the strips and wiring. I added some extra LED strips to the install so things would be brighter. This took me most of the full-day on Saturday, and to do this I removed the center bezel, armrest, upper footwell covers and loosened the tunnel tray and waterfall. I may have missed an explanation here or there, but this should illustrate the project fairly well.

I chose to link the footwell & waterfall LEDs to the cabin light circuit so as they come on/off with the door opening or from the cabin light button. For the cupholder LEDs I linked to the shifter indicator light so it was on/off with the headlights. It is a wild scene when lit up at night!

Let me know your thoughts and if you have any questions ...

no problem. The remote dimmer is pretty sweet. I have some that mount in the console so folks don't have to carry around a bunch of fobs.

Great Writeup. I am doing this mod as well, but I'm waiting on Dennise from DD Mods with my new DNX9990HD. I only want to remove the radio bezel once if I have to.

Thanks for the the pictures. Very helpful!

Tell me about it, this was like the sixth time I removed the consoles and bezel, just so tough because of the five plugs that have to be disconnected. Oh well ...

Just a note. If you put in "LCD-LEDs" you could switch to any color, race-traces, sequences and auto-fades at the touch of a button ... just sayin'

I didn't think about it, I put them in my backyard water fountain/pond, they are pretty cool but not as bright as the single-color LEDs. I even have the dimming LED strips all over my bookcase-entertainment center.

Yep. The way I look at it the more times it comes out, the more chances I have to break something by rushing it due to frustration. :willy:

When I put had my current 7160 stereo put in by PENTAVOLVO we had that thing out 3 times as the leather wrapped radio bezel from DSVettes didn't fit the first time and had to be rebuilt by them.

Hopefully after this round of mods this will be the last time.....

Is that on a loop or can the color be selected and left so you can have a diff color each day/week, etc.

it has I think over 50 variations of what you want to do. You can leave it on one color at any set of brightness or have it it go through all the colors at different speeds etc... It's actually a pretty cool set up.
