POLL: Which hood for your C4 do you like best?
Vote for 1, style only, do not consider material, price, etc.
1. Greenwood style http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/p...nwoodstyle.jpg , 2. DRM style http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/p...d/DRMstyle.jpg , 3. Callaway style http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/p...lawaystyle.jpg , 4. ACP style http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/p...d/ACPstyle.jpg , 5. Mobil 1 style http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/p...Mobil1hood.jpg , |
6....the one you left out! :D
Seriously, I would have picked "Other" -- if you'd had that option. |
the snake skinner hood
aka #5 |
oem
|
Actually - the late C3 hoods with the curled-in cowl lines ('80-'82).
Reminds me of a silhouette of a woman's leg - sexy. http://images.hemmings.com/wp-conten...20Corvette.jpg Add the front vent opening - between the leading edges of the cowl lines... on a clamshell hood. Perfect! |
2,3,and 5 aren't C4 style hoods
|
Yes I know, there will always be other options, but trying to narrow down to 2 hoods for a vendor on here to make in CF for the C4. See my other thread.
|
anything with a cowl.
|
:toetap:Since C3-C4 and C5 have been pictured here my vote goes hand down to 67 stinger hood and Callaway on the C4...
|
Can't judge how it looks on a C4 unless seen pictured on a C4
OEM for style, ACP for function  |

I chose 5, but my real preference is stock.

Number 2

Read this, then you will understand why I am asking, and the pics are just examples of current hoods, I know they are from different gens.

Toledo Pro is my next hood. This is my current...

I didn't like the fact most hoods in this poll just had vents. You can add vents to most any hood. |
Then you should like the ACP, it is similar in the center, rises up then cuts into engine bay in the front for venting.

Why no cowl induction? Best looking hood on a C-4 in my opinion

Mobil 1 (blue) gets my vote. Nothing's cooler than a raised hood.

The ACP does and the DRM somewhat harder to see at those angles. |
You can see the cowl rise on the ACP in these pics.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...installed.html This has the highest rise of any of the hoods in the poll. |
|
Me too oem over all of those. Best corvette hood ever 67 big block.

I pick #4 if the vents are moved out over the wheels (the center vent will let out the hot air and pressure from the radiator so adding extra vents in the engine compartment, before venting the wheel well area seems out of order to me). I might mod #4 to slightly enhance (increase) the two natural raised areas (to make the car look better [don't need extra room for the engine]).
|
None of the above.

I'm down with 3,4,or 5. I think a small rise about 3/4"-1" in the design would also help. Thanks for taking this on, hope you know you, you cant give everybody everything. Whatever 2 you can get made I'll buy one

just like this with a 4" rise....

I always had a soft spot of the wider high-rise.

For the guys voting for a OEM hood, I have seen some for sale on Ebay. Most seem in good condition but varied in price. I believe the OP is looking to make a custom hood in 2 different styles. Its good to see a vendor showing some interest in our cars

ACP with maybe a bit more rise.
|
Mobile 1, but i doubt i would like if all the racing decals were not on it.
|
acp for sure

Callaway vents might look good on there too. |
Another vote here for OEM.
|
I use to have a toledo pro , ended up with this VFN with a sunoco style cowl .. This one is only 18lbs
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...30027891_o.jpg |
^ Race car! Very cool. I had a cowl hood from VFN on my Camaro, I like their products. :)
|
Have always liked the Callaway!

The rest are eye acid... |
I've always likened bulging hoods and wings to stuffing socks in your crotch.
Looks really big, but nothing is really there.... That is unless you've got dual quads on a tunnel ram or a wing that actually has aerodynamic value. #1 It has little bumps but they are for real.  |
http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/...91callaway.jpg
I think Callaway has made the most sexy C4 modification (and hood) |
OEM, OEM, OEM!:yesnod::thumbs:
|
I vote for the Toledo Pro, what's it's number??
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMG_2280.jpg Seems like just enough high rise without being too much in-your-face. I still can't see my passenger side headlight flip up. http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMG_2278.jpg |
|
# 5. Stock is getting boring.... but I do love cowl induction on a carb car...
|
Acp
|
#4 acp
|
5. Mobil 1 style
|
I would be good with all of the above if it was fairly light, fairly cheep and had a cheep light fixed headlight option. +2 or 3" hood clearance and extractor vents worked out in a wind tunnel would be a big +.

#3 in CF? I'd get my checkbook out.
|
blue mobil 1
|
The one GM put on the car. Aftermarket hoods are symbolism before substance. Just my opinion. The one you want is the one you find appealing. Best head turner is an attractive female passenger. She is substance.
|
Callaway
would be my choice
|
For tracking purposes ACP, for looks with no substance Greenwood, but I must admit, OEM suits my "I like it clean and lean look".
The best part about looking OEM, no one knows what to expect when you hit the gas. That is me all day long.....Surprise...the look on their face....priceless. |
I think I would go with the Mobil 1. But the Toledo Pro is a nice hood as well. Some of us have a requirement for the extra room under the hood.
