C7R will race in new United SportsCar Racing
I'm amped!!
C7R will be in the GT Le Mans (GTLM), consisting of the ALMS' current GT class. United SportsCar Racing will debut in 2014 with the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona. http://www.grand-am.com/News/GA_News...t-in-2014.aspx http://www.pnwzr1.net/C7/IMG_1151.JPG |

I missed it too. Then I remembered and looked it up. I can't wait to see/hear the C7R.

Glad they didn't mess things up, which racing bodies seem quite adept at doing. |
At least it's still IMSA. Too many classes I think but we'll see how it runs for the first season. Love me some road racing . The merger was inevitable and if it manages to keep most of the good stuff while allowing for the series to continue and (hopefully) grow? I'll be a ticket buying fool then! See you at the Baltimore GP 2014

I can only hope the C7R will have the same kind of success. I love the sound of the C6R vs most of the other GT cars and can only hope the C7R will be as much fun to watch race.

Anything's better than the Vipers - they sounded like a 800 hp rolling fart last time I heard them.

Interesting - no "P1"

1. You stole my pic!
2. It is a shame that P1 is gone. A damn shame. |
P1's as cools as they are, are unsustainable money-wise during the rigors of the entire season. I'm happy with the class structure and the racing should be flat amazing. I'm a fan of both series and I'm really stoked about 2014.
That said, the name is GAWD AWFUL!!! That, and I think a high schooler in graphics class could've come up with a better logo! They should've just bought out TRANS-AM too just for the name! |
C7R Specs
Have the specs been released yet for the C7R, especially the motor? I have heard rumors that Pratt & Miller is not building the final race version. Any truth to that?

Drivetrain from current car, Pratt Miller did the build.

Wow, I completely forgot starting this thread...at least now we have a car to look at!

Can anyone photo-shop that pic to put some real color on it as opposed ro the funky graphics?

We go to the 24hours of Daytona every year now it will be even better with the CR-7. The Corvette prototypes look and sound a lot better since they changed the design.

I take my dad to Road America every year and he returns the favor with Indy 500 tickets, but my wife and I just bought a condo down in Florida just in time for the USCR, so I'm taking my dad down for next year's Daytona 24. |
Funny that it has been joked by people in ALMS that Corvette wins so much they just decided to paint the car like the checkered flag and be done with it...haha....

Hey, do you have any tips for a first-timer? I'm going down to the 24 Hours of Daytona and it will be my first 24 hour race. Where should I sit? Are the seats general admission like Road America? I don't know if any corvette clubs do anything similar but I don't recall seeing any reserved parking last year. A really good option is the spread and parking Grassroots Motorsports puts on but the parking portion is already sold out. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/eve...ex-24-daytona/ Most of all, don't pick just one place and sit down. Walk around in the infield, sit in some of the bleachers spread around the track, stroll through the pits and get up close and personal with the race teams. |
Oh, I almost forgot, get there early Saturday morning. No later than 10:00 or you may not find a decent place to park and even if you have a parking pass they sometimes close down the infield if the fire marshal gets a wild hair up his ass.

WHAT MJW930 said...infield-infield infield.... we go each year and usually sebring....will be great to see the c7r in daytona. the RUN TO THE ROAR (practice a week or so earlier is fun too).plenty of parking etc in the infield. go to the website for dates. With AMLS combining with Grand-Am the event could be bigger than the 50th anniversary, which set records for attendance. Parking passes will go fast, if you don't order yours before the end of October you may be very disappointed. |
