We own (I mean my wife owns) a Cent. GS vert. Her plate reads 5FOOT1. Several times when I am driving someone will ask me what the license plate means since I am 6'3". I tell them that's my wife's height and I'm just her chauffeur. No pics if you own one you know what they look like!

I've got a museum delivered car and the last Centennial ZR1 made at #385. It is bone stock so everyone knows what it looks like.
|
Count me in! GS Coupe, MZ6, NPP, 3LT. Have the car imported to germany. Bought at Albany,NY.
|
Has anyone here modded their Centennial edition? Because these are relatively rare cars I am worried that modding could hurt the value in the long run. I dont mean little things like wheels but more like wild engine/body mods. Or am I just being a paranoid?

I have chosen not to do anything to mine that can't be put back to stock. Restoring and showing my '63 split window has given me a great appreciation for how hard it is to get something back to the condition it was in when it left the factory. Being that there are only 195 Centennial Z06's ever made, I know it will eventually be very collectable. This doesn't stop me from enjoying it now, just cautious about any decision to modify it.
|
I agree with you guys! The car looks great just how it is. Not much need to do big mods. I lowered it and installed some wheel spacers to have the rubber in line with the fender. Thats it.... Can be set to OEM within an hour or two.
Because of the microfiber wrapped steering wheel, i use microfiber gloves when driving the car. I do this to keep the car in "as new" condition, but not because of appreciation in the long run. Jochen |
It's awful hard to upgrade a car that has so much especially the Z06. But I have added a few things but just small. Upgrade to Hawk 1-piece ceramic pads, Custom Lloyds mats, upgrade to LED lights, HID Fog lights, Elite Oil catch can, Black chrome gorilla nuts, Ceramic paint protection topped with Proform paint protection film (http://proformauto.com/) on all impacted areas. More to come I'm sure, was debating on a air intake but the stock one is quit efficient. I'm not liking the Nav unit, I have a Cruze and it is so much more updated, they must be the original ones back when the C6 was first released.

Z06. Probably the best looking special edition car I've ever seen from GM, only wish is it was a Z07... But not that much. Where did you get that centennial edition cargo cover?

Was thinking of doing the very same.. would appreciate posting before/after pics and more details about this mod if possible.
Thanks, AL. I used the stock studs to lower it as far as possible. In the front the height dropped by 1 inch. In the rear it was less than half inch. So maybe i will change to the aftermarket studs to drop it a bit more in the rear. However, it looks great the way it is now, so i may leave it that way. I will not go to aftermarket studs in the front. Righthight is very low now, less than 2 inches on the front rubber spoiler to the pavement. Lowering and wheelspacers are just optical mods. I do not see any change in handling characteristics... In my opinion easy to do, not expensive and great looks... Definitally worth the money. Pictures to come soon! Jochen |
Good morning!
Just went out and took a cellphone pic "before - after" lowering and wheel spacers. Easy and simple modification almost anybody can do. Have a look: http://www.CorvetteC5.de/Pictures/C6GSbefore.jpg http://www.CorvetteC5.de/Pictures/C6GSafter.jpg I know many guys in germany who installed wheelspacers on their Corvettes. 15mm are OK if you plan to lower your car. If you install larger spacers (like 20 or 25mm - thats about 1 inch) AND plan to lower your car, the rubber might come in contact with the body when driving fast around corners. So think twice before you go that big! I mdrive wheelspacers as well on my 97 C5. That car has now 130.000 Miles on the odometer and is 16 years old. Still the first 4 wheel bearings. Just in case you ask if there might be increased wear on those components! Go ahead and do it! :) Best reagrds, Jochen |
|
GS vert, 4LT, M6. Lower these cars??? I think mine would scoop up a snake now.
|
Thanks for the response Jochen. very nice ride you got.

Can we have this thread as a Sticky like that one for 427s?!.. was wondering!

Picked mine up a couple weeks ago. Looks like I have 1 of 60 Centennial Edition Base Convertibles. It is a 3LT automatic with 3400 miles on the clock.

Got my Centennial G S a few weeks ago (new). It was a difficult decision but I feel that I got so much more car for the $$$ instead of getting a C7. Planning on tinting the windows then leaving it alone & just enjoying it...
Chrome wheels, both tops, 3LT, all options... Love the sound! |

That's what was on it at the dealership... I'm an old guy that likes chrome so that worked for me. I like the ZR1 & Z06 black wheels but not a big fan of the GS black wheels... Also replaced the black GS side emblems with chrome.
|
Just turned 7k miles today on my GS centennial. Plate is RPO ZLC. Only changes are ceramic pads and Mild to Wild exhaust control.

Add me to the list - 3LT GS

Just got mine bought it new from a dealer in Texas that still had it on the lot. GS coupe 3LT. How do you tell what production number it is out of the 1040 GS coupes?

Base Coupe;Automatic;3LT. Located in Northern Minneota, maybe I get 6 months uasge.
|
Mine's a GS 6MT Vert, Hennessey supercharged, plus a few more goodies. So 528 total GS centennials, I bet the ones that are 6MT is a much lower number.
Corvette action center actually has all the production numbers with that breakdown. |

I am still very confused as to why the 100th Centennial Aniversary of Chevrolet was done using a 2012 model car?
Any search of the internet will tell you that Chevrolet's beginning was in 1911 .... The 100th Aniversary should have been in 2011. The 2012 Corvette "Centennial Edition" should have been a 2011 model. FACT ! ! ! ! |

Yes. I have actually, but decided not to for now. Instead, I have done the rocker panels and rear fenders in front of and over the brake ducts with EXPEL ULTIMATE. I also had the entire nose, mirrors and door handle area done with EXPEL while I was at Carlisle last year. It looks great and protects well.

Hi there. How much did you end up selling the Centennial Edition Z for, if you don't mind me asking? I wanted to buy yours because of the ultra low miles, proximity to me, and the $4,000 CF raised hood option, but couldn't cough up the $71,000 or so. I ended up buying one with 15,000 miles and no raised hood for $54,000.

In the long term, you're probably right. As for me. I modded the crap out of my 2012 Centennial Edition ZO6. 434 fully forged custom motor from LME in Houston, twin turbos, heads, cam, injectors, entire fuel system, E-85, stand alone ECU computer, carbon fiber drive shaft, level 7 RPM tranny, upgraded touch screen radio, window tints, blacked out corner markers and tail lights. Aside from that, it's entirely stock!!!

Sweet! How much did you end up paying and when did you buy it? I know the seller was in NJ. I nearly made a trip down from Long Island to check it out and make an offer. He wouldn't go down below $71,000 back in Aug 2013, so I bailed and found my future ZO7 optioned Centennial ZO6 10 months later at an amazing price. Wedding gift to myself LOL!

I bought in Sept. for less then that. I made a promise not to tell. When I got this car I can say for not the 1800 some miles on it, it was brand new. The big thing was I had to payoff his loan, I almost didn't do it. I'm so glad I did for sure.
That's more than 2 years after I was considering it at $71,000 |

I wish I had time, just been to busy lately. But I'll be at the track in early April. But I don't drive my Centennial at the track. And all the years of doing track days I've only seen one Centennial at the track and that was a Z06 like mine. |
