Failed Craigslist finds.

I think this may be a fun thread to start. I'm a member on another forum that started a thread like this and it just took off. You would be able to share some of the really funny and strange stuff out there in the Corvette world. I will kick things off with the following Item .

Can you say "Scoop-A-Holic? I've never seen one hood, that had so many different styles of scoops in my life. You've got Cowl Induction Scoops, NACA scoops, reverse-scoops and louver Scoops.

The only scoop I don't see, is an Ice Cream Scoop! Can you imagine trying to look around that thing while driving?

No kidding! That hood scoop has to ride up at least 2/3 of the way up the windshield on a C3! You can always mount a backup type camera on the front corner of the hood and have a tv screen inside of the scoop too. That would work! That way, you'd know if you ingested something you shouldn't have...

So I imagine that hood was on top of a blown turbo engine at some point. (Height and position of the right front vent)
All that venting would have been used to prevent lift at high speed. (Very unsafe for you guys with the dry rotting 15's)

I do not suppose something that tall and clean was built by Bubba to cover a 68 numbers matching NHRA 300HP small block with a stock air cleaner...

Just curious what you guys use to cover your 3 foot tall big dollar engine on your 180 MPH drag car that is so much better? You prefer a hole in your hood?

What would you charge for a 600+ dollar hood you then put 20+ hours into building?

Looks like a lot of effort and functional to me..

Sorry, I have to disagree, I've never seen nuthin' like that at any drag race I've ever been to! Not at the Winternationals, not at the March Meet, not at OCIR back in the day on the vintage gassers, never! Most of the guys are running, just that, holes in the hood (cause' who wants to hide an 8-71 Blower? Flaunt it, if ya got it!) or they're going the pro-stock look, like this one, I snapped at the March Meet this year in Bakersfield.

The one pictured, is just plain bizarre and is more 'Corvette Summer' than anything else. PS: Note the many dzus fasteners on the drag car below, that go all the way around, versus the two rear pin style fasteners on the rear of the custom hood.

I can see why. And forever is a long time. Another C-3 that will probably in the end get parted out since only the current owner likes the modifications. It happens to so many cars, not just Vettes. Imports are a good example. You get a guy who puts together for instance, a 240sx. Spends a ton of money on the the engine and drive train. Then puts a ridiculous body kit on it that is blended on and then tries forever to sell it afterwards usually for a crazy amount. So sad to see it happen to a vette though.

Love it! Outrageous, but not overdone either. I think it takes real talent to not only customize a car, but have it like nothing you've seen before and yet, unify it all in a cohesive package, that has your eyeballs wandering all over it.

An excellent example of this is, Roy (Ray?), Trepannier. Going from memory here, but he's had some incredibly executed customs, that also have 'bad ass' written all over them. He just had a 50's Buick in Hot Rod magazine, that you could spend a lot of time looking at.

PS: For all you Socal guys, the Gene Winfield event is just a couple o' weeks away. The lot itself, is an adventure by itself, just wandering around, much less what and who shows up, like George Barris.

Wow, totally worth it (not!). Take a zero off the price and you're there. Look at the narrow aisle they had between the engine stand and the car? Twenty years of 'just squeezin through, with laundry and groceries, not to mention the disassembled interior!

Showed my shop partner and he asked if the windows were down and yep, they are, so it's just as dirty inside as out.

persuader 10-03-2013 08:18 PM

I think the owner is confused. I think he meant that it has 30,000 original miles and the price is 645.30. In that case it sounds like a deal. I'm there.:thumbs:

I actually went and saw this car. its a complete mess and only good for parts. Cryin' shame. I made him an offer on the the car but he wasn't havin' it. I even offered him a decent amount for the mirror tops but he did not want to part the car, And also said the tops are worth 1500.00.:eek: What do you guys think its worth? Some people thing they have gold.

The only scoop I don't see, is an Ice Cream Scoop! Can you imagine trying to look around that thing while driving?

Around here we buy and sell cars on KSL.com. This one has been for sale for about a year, and I expect it to still be for sale at this time next year.

I remember this one from the late 70s. The Bunghole who painted it Rusty Fecek used to cruise the Shopping Center in Uniontown Pa. every now and then when it wasn't doing the Car Show circut. Rusty would spend Hours tootin His Horn about how talented He is to anyone who was dumb enuf to listen. This is about the only thing that the King of bullsh*t ever did that I saw , and the artwork was quite impressive. I didn't think that this Car still existed , haven't seen it in about 34 years. :D

Doesn't look terrible. But what makes him think it is worth 45k? We haven't even seen pictures of the interior.

I found this comment to be humorous....

"It was NOT in an accident. Left rear tire came off while moving it and tore the fiberglass."

Now I don't know about you, but if the tire falls off while you are driving I call that an accident. But look on the bright side, he is only asking $2900.

Made me laugh.

And I'm very sorry to say, though it's a '71, that car is NOT worth $2,900.

Agreed. Depending on what the engine bay looks like, maybe a $1000.

The engine bay was by far the best part of the car.

the corvette dash being referred to is the shape of the dash in a 359 pete. similiar in shape and design to a c 1 type dash. looks very sharp in an old petercar. while it is a big truck , the cab itself is small,( i could reach over easier in my pete to roll the passenger side window down than in my car).
and being an ex o/o , i have to give credit where credit is due. that is a very sharp road tractor! back in the day we called that a chicken truck! gotta love that" 3406 b model 4 and a quarter cat with a 9 speed double over up against the daSH!" yeah ...BABY!!!! I almost wish i were driving down the big road again!
