Got my dream car
 

Hi all, I have been lurking on this form for a couple of years now trying to learn as much as I could about the C6. Been saving and dreaming of one day owning one. My wife knows my passion and after she battled cancer last year ( and won), she said she wanted to see me in a Vette. Started looking last January, made a couple of offers on a 06 and a 07 from a dealer that was asking too much $$ but they didn't accept. I thought for the money I had to spend that it would be in the 06 to 08 year range. Long story short, on May 3rd found and bought from a private party a 2011 Torch Red base A6 3LT with black interior with less than 14,000 miles on it for $35K. I love this car, it's so much fun and have already taken a small road trip and it was great. Thanks for all the great info and still much to learn.

I think you got a pretty good deal on that car, at least compared to me. I bought an '09 two years ago (so they were the same age when purchased) for $36K, but it's only a 1LT. It has "premium" paint so that's a $1K uptick in MSRP, but you still got a really good deal. Mine had just over 12K miles when I bought it.

And ... great news about your wife. She had a tough battle I'm sure.

Believe it or not, my story is not very different from yours. After my wife won a long battle she also told me to by a Corvette. Last week I bought an '08 M6 3LT Z51 that looks exactly like yours. Good luck to you and your wife.

My wife of 37 years advised that I get a new vette to make me happy... just before she lost her battle with cancer. :( But life goes on. The next year I bought a new 2012 vette. :)

Excellent news about your wife! Health is the most important thing.......great looking car (sounds like a wonderful deal you got), now you and your wife enjoy it with many long and short cruises together. I got my current corvette a month or so before my cancer operation---just in case---a bucket list type of thing....over a year ago now and everything is looking good. My goal is to drive and enjoy the car and not let it sit for the benefit of the next owner.
