So fellow C6 peoples...when do you all think the C7 ...

..will be selling for in the 40 g's range used? Next year??Sooner?Never??What say you? I ask here in C6 forum because I think I'll get a more realistic answer ....and no intentions of getting rid of my GS just yet,but for informational purposes I thought I ask!! :D

Tbong 07-15-2014 01:38 PM

A year or two for the base model IMO. Probably longer for a well equipt model.

I was thinking along the same lines as you..

:iagree:

It will be interesting to see if the second year sales hold up as well as the first. If so, more units will mean cheaper used cars down the line or low volume would bring discounts on new ones reducing used prices. Then there's the economy. :willy:

I got to drive my first C7 Sunday. Very nice driving car, would love to have one someday so I hope the prices start tanking on them soon :D

smurfkiller 07-15-2014 04:12 PM

next year for a very basic base model , but dont forget the cardinal rule DONT BUY THE FIRST MODEL YEAR OF ANY NEW CAR

so hopefully in about 3 years ill buy a 15 Z51

That's what I'm thinking also Smurf.

dvilin 07-15-2014 04:37 PM

Probably 2 years. Next year I would like to buy the new 2015 Z. Have to wait and see the final pricing and all the other details.

sullie 07-15-2014 04:50 PM

In 3-4 years I'll probably be looking for a '15/'16 2LT Z51 7-speed w/perf exhaust. The prices are too high right now with (seemingly) only loaded Stingrays out there on the dealership lots. I think once the Z06 is released, prices on the used C7 market will warm up a bit, demand for the standard Stingray C7 will cool down thus inventory of these non-Z06's will increase so prices should decrease accordingly and then rebates should start creeping in.

wayback 07-15-2014 05:03 PM

Right before I buy one.:rofl:

C7

drove a C7, nice car, not overly impressed. they are all base models. right now it's like the beanie baby craze, must have one and will pay top dollar. the car will depreciate like all other cars, maybe a little more. the large dealers will have to start discounting heavy because they have to turn the inventory. already seeing $5,000 off list. used C7's will start to appear and normalcy will return. wait a year or two. it's a sellers market now, wait for it to change to a buyers market. besides the value of my Grand Sport is rising:flag:http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/...ps76dd75fd.jpg

Smurfkiller's idea is prudent and realistic. And my wife is really on board for a C7.

RDG5500 07-15-2014 07:52 PM

Just on looks alone, I'll keep my 2010 GS.

rsparks64 07-15-2014 08:00 PM

there are some new base models selling for about 52.9k, so there must already be some used ones under 50.

Rockyravoli 07-15-2014 11:55 PM

Love the look of the 7; I am anxious to see if there really are any real bugs with the first year. I will be looking to move up to a 7 in a year or two; I it may be my inspiration to work a few more years.

Atomic Punk 07-16-2014 12:07 AM

im with rdg5500...

BadgeZ28 07-16-2014 10:57 AM

I am very happy with the C6. I am getting to like the look of the C7 better as time goes by.

hawkgfr 07-16-2014 12:33 PM

They are starting to back up now some on dealer lots. Soon they will be trading for the z06 and the 8 speed automatic. I won't be much longer than year or so more imo.. Also they are now honoring GMS pricing etc...and discounting even the z51...ohh the horror..

I mean really the people willing to give 70k for a base car is limited which dealars now have plenty of because of it. Also no matter what they say quality has been pretty sketchy on the 2014...imo

Grand Sports are rising in value ?????? Interesting.

Yeah right. Carmax just offered me a lousy $35k for my 2010 GS with 3LT & Heritage Package. It's in like-new condition at only 23k. The car listed new for $75k.

I've decided to drive the wheels off of it and get a C7 when my GS becomes an old beater.

I feel your pain Jimmy. I was being somewhat sarcastic....LOL. Not sure where the guy that said his is going up in value has been for the last 30 years. Oh back in the day the Vette was one of the very few that did go up in value after about 2-3 years, but those days are long gone.

fireinv38 07-19-2014 12:42 AM

Value

Purchased my 2012 grand sport last year. I know what the value is. Do not go by what the dealers and car max are offering. I'm not selling them my car. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Had an offer for more then I paid and Kelly blue book lists it higher. Look at the production numbers for the c7. A lot more then the grand sport, that is what will depreciate. I see mint grand sports selling for more then used c7's. Only my opinion. I'm happy with my 7th vette. Never lost money on any one.:flag:

Really? :skep:

lavla 07-19-2014 06:34 AM

The roll-out of each generation of Corvette (At least the most recent generations) follows a similar pattern. In the first year, you can only get the base car, and Z51 if you want it. In the next year, the Z06 is introduced. I suspect that in light of the fact that the 2015 is going to be pushing up toward the $100,000 mark, GM will make a Grand Sport available in the 2016 or 17 model year.

I'm hoping that there is a Grand Sport model down the road. I guess I'll be looking for a good used one around 2017 or 18 if the price is right.

nous defions 07-19-2014 06:53 AM

C7... great looking car.

I still love my C6 GS. I also think it is a great car.

FortMorganAl 07-19-2014 06:53 AM

I don't see anyone considering inflation. Maybe that is because we haven't had run away government spending since the Carter years. In 1976 MSRP on a new Corvette was $7,600. 5 years later in 1981 it was a little over $15,000. So a few years from now when a new stripped base C7 is selling for $106K, you really think you will be able to get a used one for less than $40K? When the economy starts recovering and there aren't 1,000 people lining up every time a job fair opens looking for 50 people to hire, expect the cost of everything to start soaring.

LOVE my C6, like the C7 but right now they are out of my budget.

Maybe one day but no time soon

I was going to actually pull the trigger and do it, but the my boat engines blew and I had to repower the boat!!! Bye bye c7 idea!! :ack:

NormWild 07-19-2014 08:28 AM

I keep thinking the more I look at them, the more I'll like them, and the more I'd have to have one..................

But I don't.

Tripleblack51 07-19-2014 08:31 AM

The C7 is Beautiful

Especially in the coupe form! :yesnod:
But I bought my 2013 427 convertible last year (will be one year in a couple of days) and absolutely love it.
I love the lines, the wide body, and yes the LS7! I plan on enjoying my C6 for many years to come, if the good Lord is willing and the Creek don't rise.
I am content.

su8pack1 07-19-2014 08:33 AM

:lurk:

KayJay 07-19-2014 11:09 AM

Everytime I think about getting a C7, I just look at my C6 coupe and the desire goes away; especially when I start considering the cost of a Z51 with a couple of options...

windyC6 07-22-2014 10:59 AM

As long as there is testosterone there will be men....and some boys.....that think their cars are better and worth more than anyone else's just cause they own them. We've all seen the type....."I'm selling my car and I want 30% over blue book cause I know its the greatest car ever cause its mine and its in excellent condition". Only about 5% of cars over 3 years old fall into that category, with most of those being hobby cars....Vettes....etc... that are not daily drivers. Vehicle condition is a subjective matter. Not sure how anyone can get into these forums these days and say that their late model car is going up in value. May be a few rare exceptions.....limited production...etc.....but don't think any Grande Sport Corvette fits into the "value rising" category.

Al, I remember those days well. I think that my 75 MSRP'd around 7+-K and my 79 MSRP'd over 13K. My fully loaded (27 options) 77 Coupe DeVille MSRP'd for 11K...those were the days.

My wife & I took the tour 2 years ago. Gave me a whole new appreciation for Corvette quality control.

Those weren't really the days. Sure, the cars sound now like they were cheaper. But by the late 70s I had been a degreed engineer for for about 8 years and was only making about $25K. Inflation has increased the numbers for both our salaries and the price of cars, but the buying power is about the same as it was then.
