Listening to exhaust notes live on my car radio

I would like to broadcast my exhaust sound to my car radio. Has anyone done this? Would I need more than an FM transmitter and a couple of microphones taped to the back of my car?

Steve_R 04-05-2015 05:43 PM

Why?

Woodson 04-05-2015 06:12 PM

The Corvette is one of the few sports/performance cars built today that doesn't pipe fake exhaust over the radio. Yes, BMW has to do it. This is a good thing that the Corvette doesn't need to--it's organic.

You wouldn't even need the FM transmitter - just use the AUX jack.

It's a fair question, it's a shame no one treats it seriously.

NASTYC7 04-10-2015 12:02 AM

Um just drive the car and listen to the OEM sounds when you lay down the right pedal..

Why is it a fair question? Piping in recorded exhaust sounds? What would be the purpose if the piped in sounds are coming from the item you are piping in?

Oh I get it now.. So you can play the sounds while sitting at a car show... Weak!!

airforcex 04-10-2015 12:47 AM

The BMW method plays a recording. The OP wants to pipe live exhaust noise to the cockpit.

It's his car so he picks the mods. If you think they aren't worthy don't waste your time on something you don't believe in. You are not the "Mod Police".

when I owned my c4, I cut out all my exhaust and welded in just a simple straight pipe from the cats back. one of those most bad ass sounding cars ive ever owned. even the c7 with the xpipe and the valves open doesn't sound like that c4 does. I always wanted to hear more of the exhaust when I was driving though and even taking the roof off was good, but wasn't quite all there. wasn't until I accidently discovered that if I left my hatch slightly open, all that glorious sound came right up in to me. hatch vents on the c4 were/are common so that was a no brainer. unfortunately I have yet to find one for the c7 though I keep hoping someone will make one some day. so slightly off topic, but something for the op to consider if the speaker thing doesn't work...

A hatch vent is good if you want to get carbon monoxide poisoning....
