That car looks suspiciously like the one in your avatar.
I'm not sure what a clean air vehicle is.

NOMOREWORK 07-28-2019 08:18 AM

I'm guessing electric !!!!

calvins 07-28-2019 08:25 AM

Boggles my mind.... why do people black out/blur license plate numbers?? Have they ever stopped to think how many people see it every day?

Well, I don't see any difference. Anyone want my plate number? They can have it. not much they can do with it anyhow.... lol But I'll shut up and
stop hijacking the thread

yah its stupid. People think someone will run there plate and find there address and steal there car. It is easier to just follow them on Facebook.

Coal or nuclear power to be stored in some clean lead acid or lithium batteries?

Speedy007 07-28-2019 02:28 PM

What does clean air vehicle actually mean? My Pzev is defined as a clean air vehicle. My c5 gets better mpg! It's amazing how some can't stick to a subject ! Yes people hide plates what's wrong in that? Are you parking enforcement? Lol I got all sorts of goodies hiding my plate besides the point. I thought it was funny a c5 sitting in a clean air space just little jokes brighten up people.

Battery cars yes clean air and polluted ground and ground water lol. Wheres the spot for that.

02torchred 07-28-2019 03:20 PM

That's great

The first and last time I posted my plate online, I got a ticket in the mail a week later. Long story short, it turns out that someone had made a fake plate with my numbers/letters on it and put it on an SUV. The ticket was for blowing through a red light in another state.

People local to you aren't necessarily the ones going to try to do funny business with your info

Thanks for the idea. I'm about to take a very long trip and I'm sure I'll blow by some speed cameras.
As far as a clean air vehicle, ppffftttt, no such thing. My 2002 Corvette gets better gas mileage than my 4 banger Eagle Talon.

neutron82 07-28-2019 05:42 PM

I'm more curious as to why "clean air vehicles" get designated spots to park in

Because people who drive those kinds of vehicles "need a safe place"....... to park.

knewblewkorvette 07-28-2019 07:44 PM

Looks like clean air vehicles leak a lot of oil.

There is plenty of humor here. It is just ironic and a little dry.

The designated parking ridiculous in it's self. An electric outlet may look clean but for some reason people don't think critically enough to understand how electricity is made. If too many people drove these it would overload the grid. How many diesel lineman trucks would it take to maintain that?
I guess some people feel they are entitled to special privileges.

Any way, thanks for posting.

Speedy007 07-28-2019 11:09 PM

Your still prying away it looks like the car in the profile Haha it does look alike !

Brunello 07-29-2019 08:06 AM

Its going to be a long wait for critical thinking. I’m just gonna say “Merica” because that explains it all. Why question 100 year old technology.

No I'm not, it just makes about ZERO sense. And if you don't want comments - don't put it out there in the first place. Get over it.

Been over didn't lose any sleep feeling spectacular today how about yourself

Special spot makes them feel special. Feeds their overblown sense of self satisfaction.

Rob 02 07-29-2019 12:17 PM

Doesn't a Vette have zero emissions when it is parked?

Speedy007 07-29-2019 01:14 PM

I believe the dmv wants a special green tag to park in these spots! For kicks I just might go and apply for 1

Rob 02 07-29-2019 01:20 PM

What state is this in? I'm going to guess Cali.

Correct !

sbo76 07-29-2019 02:09 PM

My C5 gets fabulous MPG's so I would assume our cars fall into the clean air category. Thanks for the share!

Rob 02 07-29-2019 02:36 PM

We don't even have inspections here. Hurricanes clean the air.

If he wants to blur out the license plate, that’s his choice. Same as if someone doesn't want to. Not something to get all worked up over. It’s nice if we all just get along.

It would be good to know just what the requirement are for being able to park in a spot like that.

Agreed, but when I'm "attacked" I'm not one to sit back and shut up about it... Initially I simply made an observation....

Speedy007 07-29-2019 05:51 PM

Here's a link to a list of vehicles currently on the list they qualify for their badge decal the c5 isn't listed although it should be they got a f150 up there from 2000.

He seems boggled by people blurring plates the post indicated he was bothered by a blurred plate . I simply asked a few questions to help my self figure out why this guy is bothered by blurred plates no harm intended. Get along indeed! :iagree:

Half of the people that argue on forums over petty stuff would probably be friends if they had met at a car show or swap meet.
Why get personal when arguing a topic?

Because internets.
People act differently when behind a keyboard. You lose a essential part of human communication and some people find it difficult to compensate for that missing bandwidth. With essential information missing (human contact) things can spiral downwards rather quickly.

My commuter car for work is electric (Bolt).all I know is that at 6.8 cents a Kw hour its cheaper to drive it than anything else. Plus the fact that there's no oil or filter changes, no exhaust system and very little on the maintenance schedule. The state of PA requires inspection and the county I live in requires emissions testing (which I don't have to do). We all have the right to an opinion, we just need to respect each others right to disagree. Not everyone who takes advantage of new technology is smug or a tree hugger. I more than offset my "clean living" with a Hemi Charger, Corvette, and a 6.7L Ram diesel.

It sounds like a practical way to keep mileage of the cars you are really passionate for. Not as a lifestyle choice or philosophy of saving the planet.

Speedy007 07-30-2019 12:44 PM

My friends own electric cars they all say they are scared to death when is the next time the battery is gonna drop a deuce in the middle of traffic. What exactly happens to these batteries when disposed of? out of sight out of mind?

How many people throw tv remote aa batteries in the trash still and don't recycle them same thing is s gonna be with car powered batteries.Landfill . Build autobahns they help cut emissions by a lot. Studies have proved in Germany cars that spent less time getting to their destination also made less emissions. Leave the batteries for rc cars and tv remotes. Hence I got all these speeding tickets to save the environment no good deed goes unpunished lol

Rob 02 07-30-2019 01:02 PM

I cringe at the thought of when I hear about mandates requiring all cars to be electric by a certain date.
Images of fuel pumps slowly disappearing come to mind, limiting how far and how often you can drive.
With the US dollar being backed by oil, I see a one world currency in the near future.

China is suppose to be the 1st country to go full electric vehicles. As is their emissions laws stand if a car is certain age it will not be road operational. I believe that's 5-10 years old.

laurent_zo6 07-30-2019 03:48 PM

China has bigger problems to deal with than converting all to electric vehicles. The air is so polluted some days you can't even see the sky.

I wonder what they will be burning to produce electricity. Oil?
What could possibly go wrong?

At present with the relatively small volume of EV batteries available, most used battery packs are repurposed for power walls or home solar storage. Nissan Leaf batteries are being repurposed to power streetlights in Japan (with Solar Panels to recharge) Battery packs can be rebuilt (individual cells tested, bad ones replaced) and sold as replacement parts. This alone has reduced the prices of batteries for Honda Hybrids from 8 to 9K a few years ago to 1 to 2K. As more EVs come into use "economy of scale" will kick in making the processes of recycling cheaper. Bad cells can be recycled, the Nickle, Lithium, Manganese and other elements recovered to reuse in manufacturing new cells. Right now, most of the battery packs replaced are the responsibility of the manufacturer to control. Battery packs replaced by dealers are not landfilled as it is against the law to do so. People do need to be more responsible with small device batteries, you are correct that more end up landfilled that needs to be. People have to care and make the choice to do the right thing. If you haven't driven an electric vehicle you ought to try it, you'll be surprised.
