Christmas Raffle Giveaway
 

I was fortunate to be a winner of a new C8 at the Corvette Museum raffle that was held back in September. I still can't believe it. I celebrated by purchasing a C8 sweatshirt, from the museum, the same day I won and kept it for my delivery day which is this Thursday. I tried it on tonight and unfortunately it is too big and my return date has passed. I would like to put it up for a Christmas giveaway. It is a size large. Just drop a comment below and you will be entered. I will draw a random number on Friday and then PM the lucky winner to get your address to mail it out. Good luck to all and happy holidays to you and your families. For those that have asked for more details, I will post pics over the weekend and answer any questions you may have.

@golddog Dont forget to set aside $$ for potential taxes. IIRC large value/cash wins in lotteries/raffles are subject to taxes. Specifics I'm not 100% certain on but you dont want a nasty surprise if the IRS audits you for not claiming the C8 win.

Still 100% worth keeping the car. The taxes would be far less than buying one.

Edit: a cursory examination is that the federal tax burden on "gambling winnings" (including raffles like this) is 25% of the fair market value. To be on the safe side I'd calculate the exact MSRP of a car identical to the one you won, and set aside 25% of that value just in case. It may get more convoluted if it somehow bumps you into a higher tax bracket. Thats where I start to get lost...

Or just dont report it on your taxes and roll the dice on the audit (maybe pay for audit protection just in case lol).

Update...just found your "What a Day" post from September. Beautiful car.

No worries. The museum won't let you take the car until you wire them the required 25%. Also, you have to pay your states sales tax ahead of time.

Very cool. Still means you got a C8 for like 20-30k depending on how its speccd. Thats pretty sweet.
