aluminum shift forks C5 .. help

Does anyone know for sure what vin's are affected... by the TSB.. that pertains to aluminum shift forks?

I had my old 2002 repaired for this problem and the steel forks installed.
Now my new late 2002, is supposedly not affected, buy this TSB.

Where can I find the exact cutoff for this problem.

I have T-minus zero days till my warranty is out.
Thanks

The information you are referring to was never a bulletin it was GM preliminary information, #pip3020. This information included ALL 97-03 Corvettes, 97-02 camaros and 97-02 pontiac firebird, with M12,MM6 or MN6. These parts were updated sometime during the '03 production, but I haven't yet researched exactly when. In addition to the aluminum shift fork being replaced they are also to replace the 3-4 synchronizer hub assy and both 3rd & 4th blocking rings.

This has been a problem on these cars for sometime, obviously. We have repaired may of these transmissions under warranty, but now GM seems reluctant to stand behind their product (or Tremec's). We are constantly under scrutiny by our district service manager on transmission repairs.(because this affects GM warranty cost greatly, partially because of much inflated parts prices).

Besides the fact that they think the shift fork is the culprit, the synchronizer hub keys are made of JUNK (stamped steel). Albeit expensive Rodney from RPM (crashed94) has available billet or tool steel keys which probably will never break and thats what I've been installing lately in our "REAL" cars. This is the component that causes the car not to shift properly between 3rd-4th.

Steel shift forks, when?

Isn't there anyone that can get/give a definitive answer on when the trans upgrades ('02-'03) were made? I have tried everything to find this out, including going directly to GM, nobody has an answer. You know that the way computer records are kept now they should be able to just punch this in and get the answer----they ignor you! Anyone else had the same problem? This has been my only post because everything else has been always simply answered. I don't know how all this posting works but you can answer me at jeffgemutliche@shasta.com
P.S. my 1st vette was a'58----things were much simpler then---yeah--I'm an "old" guy.
Thanks, Jeff
