Heavy clutch pain in the @ss

Does anyone know if there is a different type of clutch I can buy for my M6? It's becoming heavy and shifting in traffic and every day driving is not fun. I'm used to driving import cars with easy shifting. Is there something I can buy or upgrade on my Vette to get this same type response?

Yep! It's called an A4. The clutchwork is nonexistent. Love mine. I would highly recommend you try one out!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I switched over to a Z06 clutch, previous owner had installed something that was extremely heavy i.e. it made my leg shake sitting at a long long if i didn't just put it in neutral, that made a huge difference. I can't think of the brand of the super hard clutch. Anyways, guess I'm not that much help but there ya go!

If you bought your car used, I'm wondering if there is an aftermarket clutch in it, since the stock clutch shouldn't be giving you such distress.

^ what he said

the stock clutch really isn't all that stiff

What clutch do you current have?

I loved the certifications after your name. You must come from some nerd boards.

Anyway, is it the stock clutch or not? If it's stock, go buy another car or work on your leg muscles. The stock clutch is so light that I had a hard time telling I was even pushing on the pedal (when I had the stock clutch still).

If it's not stock, switch to stock or Z06.

The combination of the certifications and the whining about the heavy clutch is almost too much. Maybe he should buy a Prius.

I recommend at least five sets of heavy squats twice a week.

You guys are cruel. No need to do deep knee bends, s stage two or three clutch would solve the problem. ;)

Look into the drill mod to soften up the pressure a bit. There, a helpful post. :)

Mark, I've been inspired to present another helpful post. Maybe the prior owner removed the assist spring from the clutch pedal (some folks do that to help the sticky pedal syndrome).

The stock Z06 clutch is so light. If yours is hard to press, then there is either a problem or it is not a stock clutch. Your grandmother can push in this clutch. But then again I thought my Exedy twin felt soft.

:iagree: It should not be that heavy. Either there is a malfunction or it's an aftermerket clutch.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to have a Z06 clutch put in my car? Is this expensive? I have 30K miles on my car and I think I'll need to be replacing the clutch soon anyways right? How much more is the Z06 one going to cost me?
