how do ohio cars usually hold up rust wise and all

thinking about looking at my "Dream" car i've found in ohio it has about 50k miles on it but should the frame be ok just be knowing it's from ohio (up north)

in other words do you guys try to find southern cars and skip ones from up north like that i just don' want to waste a trip to look if it's probably got a lot of rust being from ohio owner said frame is in good shape but you never know

Depends on if it was driven in the snow, encountered road salt, etc.

Odds are, it will have rust.

I would not buy it without having the frame checked.

our 68 was bought new in ohio has 53k miles on it and has been in SC since 94....the frame is in great shape, no birdcage problems or frame problems just a little surface rust on the frame is all and it original black paint is still on the frame good so it might not have a rust problem just from being up north

then again ours being in SC since 94 has helped some

I have a '79 that's lived its life in Ohio. It's fine - a bit of surface rust on one muffler, and that's it. It just depends on how well the car has been taken care of.

My car was a Florida car most of it's life and since it has been leaking oil for the last 10 years or so the whole underside is completely preserved in oily grime. Very little rust. :)

Just bought a 69 from ohio, car was a garage qeen and had no rust on it except for a little surface rust on the mufflers/exhaust manifolds. Then again if the car was left outside for winters/driven it could have been badly rusted out. Got to see it in person and find out for your self.

i talked to the owner over the phone and i told him where to check and he said since i was so far away he would check and be perfectly honest since i would have a long trip to look at it.

he said the birdcage and all is great frame looks good and i told him to reach in the drain holes he said theres some rust flakes but i've yet to own a c2 and c3 that didn't have that so sounds like its worth a shot

oh and its always been a ohio car and the 50k is actual miles

One question to settle this .....do you deny seeing cars that had grocery bags stuck in the lower portion of the door ? because the rust had eaten everything away?

ps...i liked Cleveland when i lived there...at that time the Flats rulled! i 've since heard they have fallen on tough times and the warehouse district is "in".

Mine has been here (Ohio) all its life. It seems to be holding up pretty well...
