stock!
100% stock, 1971 Chevy AM/FM. Its kinda cool, in a way, BUT its starting to bug me as I don't have "good" tunes...
:ack: |
Kenwood tape deck with the old style dials so it looks like a cheapie. However, it's also a CD changer controller, with the box in the back. I've got 4 Polk 4x6 plates in the dash and kickpanels, a JBL amp, and a 10" Bazooka in the back.

502 inches of injected rat motor through nearly open hooker sidepipes. All the music I need. :leaving:

here's what I had in my old 69
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...s/113_1397.jpg matched with an alpine CD player and i ended up stuffing those wires out of the way so it looked cleaner |
Here's a thread from the archives... mine is on page 3 of the thread
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ghlight=stereo simply put it is an invisible high-end XM and MP3 system. More details are in that thread here's a few pics from that thread: Console where the controls are http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/jay...mrest_open.jpg The back wall where the Amp, sub, EQ, volume controller, XM reciever, and switchbox are http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/jay.../rear_area.jpg ~Jay |

Alpine 9851 CD/MP3 head with XM SkyFi plugged into the AUX. Kicker 4x6 coax in the dash. Kicker 6x9 coax in a custom-built box in the rear. A very slapped-together, temporary box in the rear that is yet another project to deal with... :willy:

Sony xplode head unit 2-5 1/4 rockford fosgate in kick panel 2-4x6 rockfords in dash and 2 - 8 inch phoenix gold dvc subs in an enclosure in back with a rockford fosgate amp.

More details are in that thread ~Jay To start with (while I mess around with the other fun stuff when you first get a car!) Im just going to play an ipod through the original stereo unit with one of those fm transmitters. Ill also make sure the speakers are ok..if not Ill replace them with a good quality set that fit in the original places without mods. |
Kenwood eXcelon mask CD
Components 5.25 in kick panels & Removable rear equil. to 2 8s http://ganeys.home.sprynet.com/b.JPG Amp. in center storage compartment Excellent sound. Rarely use it. The engine makes enough music for me. |

I picked up this gizmo at Walmart the other day:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3579125 "This handy MP3 FM Modulator turns any USB memory drive (not included) into an MP3 player. It plays all of your audio devices through your car stereo system for convenient listening anywhere. Contains MP3 decoding software and a USB port." Thanks to SteveG75 for the lead on this one  Look for it in the car audio section... |
So how does that work Tony? You hook an MP3 player into it then tune your radio to whatever station the thing modulates too? Then it will play your mp3 through your stereo?
|
The thing you plug into you cigarette lighter is an MP3 player but you also need a memory stick (which will contain all your MP3's) to plug into the player. You then tune the player into a FM station (like 88.7) and get tunes out of your speakers. I'll take a pic later today and post it for ya...pretty neat setup & cheap.
Heres an example of a memory stick: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...A3955%3A234480 I guess the correct term may be "USB flash drive". |
I put in this Poineer system and it sounds pretty good, OK a lot better then the USA-1 that was there.
radio |
I have a Kenwood MASK cd and a 10"sub in the back i also have a pair of 6,5" speakers back there, and a couple of 5,25" under the dash.
Everything is driven by 2 amps and a 1F condensator |
