Who's AC still works?

Mine doesn't, but that's because the high-side hose is physically busted in the middle. I have a new one, with all the flanges and everything. But I don't know if it's worth screwing around with. As far as I know the erst of the system should work, but I'm too tempted to just yank all that crapola out and just have a nice dummy pulley. The space savings, mmmmm...

Anyway, if I did fix the AC, how long could I expect it to last? I got the big Nippon Denso compressor, in an '89 - do these things last, or what?

space saver yes i agree. question is.. can you handle not having a/c? with me it seems like the older i get the less i like extreme temp changes.
a/c's are problematic but if done exactly correct it can last many years. doing it correct is up for debate from what i have read here. i have seen it done though

my 95 has incredibly cold air conditioning and the system works great for me.. (knock on wood...!)

mine doesn't because there is no refrigerant and when i hotwired the compressor it made a loud grinding noise.

My 93 still works fine, especially when the solid top is in place. With the glass top it always seemed that the a/c could not compete against the sun shining in.
I agree with okies93, the older I get the more comfy I want to be. And shouldn't we have it all... Comfort, style, performance and a/c. :D

I had the same problem when I had a 87 Coupe I could get it cool, but not cold, I put the sun shade stick up on the top and it helped a lot. I now have a 92 Vert and with the top up it is cold enough to enjoy the ride. I have a rule, when it hits 95+ I don't care how dumb I look the top goes up and the air goes on.

Ice cold in my '87. Noticed oily dust sticking to the fitting where it bolts onto the compressor today though. Wouldn't be surprised if it don't quit one of these days due to a small leak at that spot.

Another '92 checking in with working A/C (although I had to replace a hose last year, it was worth it).

Got mine fixed about one week ago on my 1994. Replaced the stem valve and recharged with R-134a. Works great now.

My 86 works fine. I had to change the compressor. The bearings on the pully went out so I had to replace. :ack: But I got it working again :D

My 88's A/C works fine. Probably needs a little top up with refrigerant, but it works fine for me now.

Mine works great so far. If it ever quits, I'll get it fixed.
