Awesome quality install kit

I swapped out my stereo installation kit from one made by Metra to this one made by American International (GM-K380). The fit, finish, and quailty are top of the line. I think this almost looks stock.

Here are some pics:

Please note this kit only works on the C6.

No. This is just the stock black/red interior on the C6

I can't recommend this kit enough, its really nice. Got it at millionbuy.com.

I replaced the front door speakers with DLS Iridium 8" components. The center channel with a Boston 3.5". Not running rear speakers. And I'm working on getting 2 8" Image Dynamics subs mounted into the rear compartments.

leolufse, do you know if the stock system has an AMP in it somewhere? or are all the speakers running off the head unit's internal amp?

I also want to replace the speakers, but not the rear ones, I hate rear fill....

How did you get the 8 inch components in the door? is that the stock audio size speaker so no fancy stuff necesary? where did you put the tweeters?

what was the model of the 3.5 boston you put in the center? I assume it was a boston accoustics?

is there enough space in the rear for 8 inch subs? or is some sort of custom enclosure / work needed?

thanks for the info!

Check out my C6 album: http://peachstateposse.com/ipw-web/gallery/album137

I've got a bunch of pics of the HU, amp, component, and center channel speaker install.

To answer your questions: I didn't have the Bose or Nav or Onstar system (1SA package). I did have to purchase a PAC adapter to replace the warning chimes that are lost when you pull out the stock stereo. I belive there is an amp someplace even in the non bose system. It appears the amp runs the larger speakers in the doors and the rears. I think the HU runs the smaller speakers in the doors and the center channel.

I'm not running rear fill either. I have the components installed in the stock locations. They are amped at 125 watts/ch. The center channel runs from the HU power rear speaker level outputs. Its a nice way to dial in center channel volume.

Currently I'm working on fiberglass boxes for an 8" sub in each rear storage bin. PM me with additional questions if you want. :flag:
