Z06 Mod costs
How much do y'all think it will cost to get the Z06 to 500-550 rwhp?

Probably an exhaust setup from an aftermarket 427.

"Let the Games Begin" :thumbs: New Beast with new issues for the tuners and aftermarket peolpe. I bet the exhuast with the control valves is something you won't want to change, but full length headers and x-pipe will be do-able soon as someone gets one and starts the mods.

I'm sure any aftermarket exhaust will yeild ~0HP gain. It's purelly for sound (and perhaps some weight loss over stock mufflers) If you like loud - change exhaust. If not - keep stock. :yesnod: |
I have seen people mention head work on the Z06 a few times, but do we really expect any signifigant gains there? They are already CNC'd, altered valve angle. I think the ports are even modified a bit. With hand porting you can always take out more material than a CNC job that has to account for core shift, but will it be worth breaking into a hand assembled engine for 10 or 20 hp? People that make their living swapping heads may disagree with that number, but I can't imagine it being much more than that.

With a lot of improvements of LS7 configuration, it has to be at least as good as LS6 right? Well, I just don’t think a simple cam + bolt ons swap will get it from 505bHP to 600rwHP. :eek: That would be insane :crazy: Therefore there must be more left in the heads. Simple logic. :yesnod: |
$1,500 for 500 rwhp. on C6 Z06. Change .591 lift cam 214 duration to .591 lift 244 duration. It has 1.8 rockers already. There are several(many) N/a ways to get to 550 and 600 rwhp. All lengthy discussions.
I am thinking about going to 700 rwhp N/a on my next C6 Z06, unless they produce the Blue Devil. About 20-30k to the tab and another 20-30k for suspension/brake/wheel improvements. Don Williams (Z06Vette.com Moderator, F1 specialist, "GM consultant, for lack of a better word") has a very good write up on the other site. |

You have to remember 427 is alot bigger than 350. A long duration cam 240ish, long tubes, and intake should be able to get you at least to 525 - 550 at the wheels. If the heads are the race castings from the C5R race engine, I cant remember where I read that, then you arent going to get much more out of the heads.
Going to be fun for you guys, I just spent my mod money on a new engine for my C5. Actually, bigger motor needs bigger cam. I can easily see 525 at the wheels with cam (depending on how good the heads will turn out to be and how aggresive cam you go), but 600 is just too big of a stretch. :nonod: If I'm wrong new Z06 would be the biggest bang for the buck in car modding history!!! :eek: (I don't think we'll get that lucky though :( ) |

427 is still a 427 displacement wise.
Yes 600 rwhp can happen but you are talking alot more compression and cam to TRY and get there. anything street manored will be less than 600 rwhp. also who on this board has a 600 RWHP motor thats NA ??? |

Cam, headers and tuning is going to be worth about 75 rwhp. Head work is another 25. That gets you to about 525 rwhp or 615 to the crank. After that S/C gets you another 150 rwhp. Now we're at 675 to the wheels.
Another option would be inter-cooled twin turbos,LPE. Depending on the quality of the turbos you can end up with between 750 to 850 rwhp. We are now pissing with the big dogs. |
