Best body Shop in Northern Virginia

OK, I did the wrong thing yesterday. It was Friday, and I said Hmmmmmmm, is a beautiful day, I think Ill drive the vette to work today and give myself a treat. As im driving to work im saying to myself, self, nothing could ruin my day. A bunch of us went out to lunch, and I thought id give the secertary a treat and let her ride with me with the top down.

I parked in a parking lot ate lunch and thought Id give another secretary a ride back. She gets in the car and the door wont close, and I can hear it hitting metal on metal. she trys again, and it doesnt close. She asked me if I always had "that scratch" on the side of the car, I asked her if she was joking, and she said no there's "like a scratch" on the side of the car. I get out and look, and as someone was pulling in or out of their slot next to me, they must have went into the parking slot wide, and ripped my passenger fender and door. It looks like I hit a guard rail in turn 3.

There was no note. We looked at the parking lot video, and it sucked you couldnt see a thing.

I need a new fender and door, and a couple of supporting parts.

the car is Y2K magentic Red. That's the part that upsets me. The color will be a bear to match. :cuss :

USAA Insurance recommended % 100 satification if I go to a local body shop in Leesburg, VA, but I can take it anywhere.

There was no structural damange, but the skins are shot. :sadangel:

Moore Cadillac Hummer in Tysons has a very capable body shop, and of course they have all the GM parts and paint. I've heard good things about them.

I live in VB, and I can recommend one down here but it seems a little far for you i think. The shop is dream works customs and I've taken my car there and they do awesome work. If you want some more info let me know.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I can't believe people are so rude and inconsiderate. They are all over the place not matter how far away you park. Good Luck

I used EastCoast Fiberglass and Refinishing in Manassas to repair my car last year after an accident. They did a great job and kept me informed on everything they were doing and ordering.

You might want to pop into the SouthEast section and ask. This subject has come up a lot in there.

I used Auto Body of Vienna. They matched the paint perfectly on my torch res 03 Convert.

It's the color matching that's the problem. In 2000 they had a couple of Magentic Red colors untill they got it right

They do all models, but Progressive sent me there when i wrecked mine. They replaced pretty much the whole front end - suspension, fenders, hood, etc.

They did a fantastic job. Even though its' black, i was afraid you would notice a difference in the sun or where the body lines met or something. For the life of me, i couldnt tell - even down to the orange peel, it looks factory.

If i recall, the manager used to be a corvette guy, or work a corvette shop or something. There are other auto shops around there, so the stingray shop you're referring to may very well be out there as well.

Good luck!

This sucks! I can't recommend anyone but I wanted to wish you good luck.

I got back into the country today and took it to a shop close to the house that my insurance company recommended.
About $4000 for the repair
The shop was Seneca Auto Body in leesburg. I wasnt overly thrilled with the shop

EG@EnglandGreen 08-29-2005 08:08 AM

Sorry to hear about this :(

Even if you parked in the back 40, some idiot might still hit your car. This is so wrong :(

Hope you get it back like new.

Loudoun Collision Center and Stingray's are two seperate body shops in Purcellville. Stingray's is more af a corvette "specialist" though, so you may want to give Charlie a shout (the owner). Loudoun Collision Center is also a very good shop and is located just down the street from Stingray's. Talk to em both and go with whom you feel more comfortable. Very sorry to hear about your damage though. Most people are just jerks ... plain and simple.

Good luck with your repairs ... :)

I went to both shops today. I went to loundoun Collision first. Seem like a good shop, but asked me how many stage paint the car had.. I was kind of hoping you'd know I felt like saying.

AS I was leaving, I saw Stringrays of Purcellville. I stopped in and talked with the owner. He knew a bit more about corvettes, but had a younger painter. Like a 22 years old.

The body anyone could do the body work, but its the paint that will show the car right.

Paint Matching

You might want to inquire if the bump shop has a computer paint matching system, rather than just using factory paint packs. This system is quite an investment, so many shops don't have it. I know owners of several bump shops, that swear by it. They claim two brand new same color cars, can scan differently. As for matching the OEM paint surface(orange peel), that is a bigger challange.
