Im planning on driving my coupe all winter long, if you ever feel the need to drive a vette, Ill come by and let ya take her for a spin, rain/snow/sleet, shes driving... thats why i bought her! :cheers:

Was out at 6am this morning washing the baby.

Waiting for the first snowfall, John. Almost put the top down this morning. Will see how weather is tomorrow.

Mine went in two weeks ago :(

In a couple more weeks we will put ours up for the winters nap..
Then the countdown to Spring starts..........

It is a sad day.... I just put mine away today. The good news we had a great year to enjoy one of the best cars ever built. :thumbs: Stay in touch.

I really don't mean sarcasm, rather curiosity.

Why do these cars up north get 'pickled' for winter? Do they not have heaters or won't start or something? It doesn't snow every day, right?

Home grown in the south, but a 15 year stint in St. Louis made me realize there ARE 4 distinct seasons. Short Period of nice - followed by the Ice Age - to sort of nice - to this HAS to be Hell. * Repeat process annually*

Aside from seats feeling like a block of ice, oil that felt like the consistency of tar until warm, my cars handled a little tighter, but I still drove them....and drove the fun cars on nice dry days, even it is was 20 below outside.

It just seems like a self-imposed prison sentence, or self induced torture to look at it every day for 4 or 5 months and NOT drive it.

I'm driving mine tomorrow to a local Corvette Club gathering. :thumbs:

I'm drivning mine until the first snow and they salt the roads.

As to why people in the Snow Belt put their cars away for the winter, I suppose there are a number of reasons. For some the Corvette is just a pleasure car - one you drive on a nice day for fun. Ah, not much fun for me to be going down the Eisenhower Expressway in January when it's below zero, if I had the top down.

If I leased mine I'd probalbly drive it all year. But if you own the car a want to keep it for a long time, believe me, winters here in the Chicago area are just brutal on cars. You don't need snow tires in in Chicago. When it snows the road crews put down a zillion tons of salt. It's like driving in salt water! Good wet traction from your tires is what you want. Put it away for the winter and the car will simply look better longer.

All I can say is that I hope that you enjoy your Gran Prix next week when I am enjoying my Corvette. I had my 89 for 11 years and drove it in the winter when the condition were nice and still got the same amount of money when I sold it even if I didnt drive it in the winter. I treat my 98 the same way. When I sell this one, they wont know if I drove it in the winter or not. I might not take it out every week, but enought so I dont get flat spots on my tires and so the seals (gaskets) dont get dry rotted. My friends 82 had a engine oil leak and his 96 tranny had a leak because he never dove them for extended times. They were fine before he stored them and after he pulled them out, so did the fluid.

I put mine away over 2 weeks ago. I hate to say it, but I'm kind of "Vetted" out. It's nice not having it in the garage and there's room for my car and my wife's car. I'll start getting anxious to drive it in January, but right now I'm enjoying the Mercedes. :)

I know how you feel. Mine has been pretty much put away for the last month, not due to the weather, but due to all the construction going on in our new subdivision. Hopefully they will finish on our end soon and the streets will not be littered with rock, dust, mud, nails, etc.

if you want to drive it then drive it . its my choise not to . and if i die then someone will buy a 19,xxx mile 2000 vette and all you will tell him what a great find he found :lol:
