I have always wanted a 63 split window. Recently a friend was diagnosed with some health problems and contacted me to see if I wanted to buy is 63 split window. The car has been garage stored for 31 years. He is the orginal 3rd owner. The car is completye and does need to be restored. He wants $12,500. The frame doesn't look to great and the car is all 100% orginal and numbers matching. Just curious to get some other members feedback. I will be restoring the car as I use to do it for a living. I am very picky. But does this seem like a decent price for a car that will be dissasemble and rebuily from every nut and bolt up? Have watched for a while they seem to sell for $65 and up in great condition. Saw a beater on ebay the other day around $20,000 with caulking used in the bodywork :eek:

That's a good deal, especially since you can do the work yourself. I hope things work out well for your friend and I'm sure he'll be comforted knowing it's in good hands. :thumbs:

Great price! Great find! Great car! Hope your friend turns out to be ok, and that this is still a good thing for him to do. If you used to do this in the past then you already know being picky is a very good trait to have. With the increase in prices, however, comes a small downside, depending on just how picky you are about a faithful restoration: the increase in prices of real, authentic, NOS parts, which is the Corvette restorer's nirvanna. That of course depends on whether you need them or not, but a '63 that needs nothing wouldn't be 12.5K. Good luck. And it's a very good thing you can do it yourself. :)

$12,500? You better grab it! You can't even get a
beater" C2 for under 25k these days. Don't wait, that sucker will be gone quick if someone else hears about it. Keep us posted :cheers:

just brought it home. Threw it on the lift. Checked all numbers and everything is 100% perfect. The frame looks worst then I thougt. I will need to do some research to see if I should spent the time and money to make her 100% orginal or turn it into the car I have always wanted. see some mods coming on. I just sprayed a friends 55' that was built over the past year with 98 running gear (motor, tranny susp....ets...) the 1/4's were widened and the builder did a great job. This might be a chance to go crazy. Will post pics as the project evolves later next month.

Just havta ask...I know for almost every car there's a "original owner"; the guy that bought the car new. After that there's second, third, etc... Just what exactly does "original third owner" mean anyway? In the 11 years from 1963 to 1974 there were two owners before your friend bought it and (presumably) garaged it for 31 years.

So, if everything is perfect...what's wrong with the frame? And if it is perfect why would you want to mod it? :seeya

Buy it. If you don't, I will personally come and beat on your head until you regret it. :D

Even if you have to put $30k into it to make it PERFECT, the car will be worth $60k when done.

Just get it and start taking it apart... new and used frames are available... hell, the original might be repairable.
