Manual for a sports car!!! They suck in traffic, but a blast to drive!!

That's a very difficult question to answer. What is better for you?

I'd say 84-88 - Go Automatic
89-96 - Go Stick

Re: stick or automatic (84fieroburton)

Heres the way I rationalized it. I wanted an AT because the traffic in So.Cal stinks like an elephants butt. That was the biggest reason. But in addition, I was buying my Corvette used and I figured the AT owner probably did not race the car as much as MT owner would. If you want to lay some rubber, just turn the ASR off.

personal choice, I can't think of an advantage of a manual over auto. WHAT HAPPENED TO SPELL CHECK?

Get a stick, along with the King of the Road ZR-1

Re: stick or automatic (84fieroburton)

Depends on what you want to do with it. I hear an automatic is better for drag racing, standard is better for autocross but I cannot speak from experience since I do neither. I bought a standard because that's what I wanted.

:D

P.S. I love the rumble when I downshift... :D :D

A stick is the only way to drive a car like a Vette.

Mines an auto. I automatically SHIFT it when it hits the redline! :D

Seriously, I've heard the complaints about traffic, and it's just second nature for me. These things have so much power you can leave it in first, in traffic, third if you don't want to bump the redline. It's really not that hard.

Re: stick or automatic (84fieroburton)

Since I am focused on purchasing an LT4 I don't have any choice but to go stick. Since it won't be a daily driver I am not concerned with traffic. But it is purely each person's own taste; just like verttes compared to coupes; and one color compared to another. That is what makes the world go around; different strokes for different folks. :D

Re: stick or automatic (Ed Ut)

I drive an auto... I wish it were a stick :( A stick takes more skill to master. I like to have to work for something, so I wish I was able to say I was some great manual driver to my friends. However, my auto stock beat just about any car on the road, and is pretty easy to adjust shift points and driving feel. Take it either way, but if I did it again Id have a coupe with a 6 speed.
